Emma's issue

Joel and I are currently in a Basketball league called Upward, if you come to our practices you'd see all the fun we have. We both had games on Saturday,my team won 19-18, Joel's team lost 47-24; but I have to hand it to Joel's team, they played really well! And as for me in school, I made the Talent Show,(performing on Feb. 9th). And I have exams Wednesday,Thursday,and Friday; all half days. I hope you liked my update!

Happy 9th Birthday JB!

Happy 9th birthday to JB! What more could he ask for? He had a weekend FULL of fun. A beautiful sunny, warm day to play _______[insert sport here]_______ outside with friends, a sleepover and fort-building, the Spartans making it to the championship game, a great soccer game, performing in choir, and going to a Pistons game! There were some wins and some losses in there – but a whirlwind of fun at every turn. Of course we ALL could have done without the snow storm on Monday but fortunately JB was able to celebrate his birthday all weekend long in wonderful weather before the snow blew in.

We’ve had a busy time lately – we’re in the middle of bookended birthdays, Emma is returning from 5th grade camp today and we’re leaving for spring break tomorrow. Whew! And did I mention there’s only 36 more days in the school year!?!

Most of the photos in the slideshow are from JB’s camera and are his account of his birthday celebrations – including playing with two of his friends all day (literally from sun up to sun down!) and his time going to Ford Field to watch the Spartans practice as well as the “boys” watching the games together. (The boys being the Joels and Ranger. :) ) And would you expect anything less than Shannon dancing in the aisle at the Palace during the Pistons game?? We snapped that photo as well.

Emma and I traveled to Cambridge, Ontario on Saturday for what turned out to be her final competition in the Novice category. She had a wonderful day and has advanced to the next category which is 12 months long and then the final category of Premier. To have accomplished so much at the age of 10!! We are so proud of her and as I uploaded the photo to include in today's post I have been humming Stevie Wonder's "Isn't She Lovely" over and over in my head for the last hour. I know he wrote that for his infant daughter but the sentiment is timeless. Might have to go download that one now. :)

We are "choir intensive" this coming two weeks with Palm Sunday and Holy Week services and all three kids singing in multiple services. Not to mention TWO birthdays - JB (4th) and Shannon (9th) - as well as the culmination of the Spartan season (championship????) Then we're off to FL for some intensive poolside R&R before finishing off the school year at a break neck pace in eight weeks! Don't blink - before you know it we'll have a middle-schooler. I wonder what Stevie Wonder wrote for that.
