Dad and Mom visit Honduras

October 2nd- 12th
Elder Kapple was able to end his mission with his parents picking him up.  They were in Honduras for 10 days and were able to see a lot of the areas Nathan served in.  Since Nathan was an Assistant to the President (AP), he was able to pick them up at the airport with his companion.  They enjoyed a nice dinner at the mission home with President and Sister Veirs and the other departing missionaries.


The next day mom and dad were able able to attend Nathan's last zone conference which he conducted in Spanish.  After that, Nathan, mom and dad were able to visit all the areas where Nathan had served.
They also had some fun and visited the Mayan ruins in Copan, did a zip line through the jungle in Trujillo, went scuba diving on the island of Utila and went to the beach in La Cieba.  Nathan was released as a missionary by dad before they went scuba diving!   Trujillo is where Christopher Columbus landed in 1502 on his fourth and final journey to the Americas.  They stayed at the Christopher Columbus hotel.  They also attended church where they broadcasted General Conference. They spent the last night in San Pedro Sula and had dinner with President and Sister Veirs one last time before flying home to Utah.

Hello Everyone,

So to answer all the questions about the traveling and stuff.  When you get off the plane here in Honduras try to be the first ones to get to immigration because that usually takes a little while.  So get off the plane fast.  Rent a car and they’ll be waiting there for you.  I’m pretty sure I’ll be there to pick you up.  Then that night we can just get some dinner and then I’ll take you all to the hotel. That night is when we have a dinner with all the newly arriving missionaries then after that we’re in the office working on changes usually but that is right next to the hotel.  Some things to bring: I need you to bring a Book of Mormon in Tagolic (I think that is spelled right; the guy is from the Philippines) and if you can find the pamphlets in that language too.  Bring a few pairs of church clothes.  I’ll do all the visiting and traveling is church clothes.  If there is anything else I’ll let you know.  So this week was good. I’m feeling better but I still get a little pain in the back but not too much.  We still did zone meeting this week and we will be finishing next week.  This week we did a lot of divisions.  We went with all the missionaries that can possibly be the next AP. It was fun to go out and work with them all.  President will have a hard choice because there are a lot of great possibilities. It was pretty crazy this week.  We sent a missionary home to go get surgery but with some new laws he couldn’t leave the country without some proper paperwork so we had to improvise a little bit.  It worked he got to leave.  The laws can be a little different here.  This next week we have a few more zone meetings to do. We’re going to go back down to La Ceiba and we also have to do changes.  Man, time sure does fly.  It’s crazy that the mission is finishing and kind of sad.  Sorry this is so short but we have to go to a baptism so we’re leaving pretty quick here.

Well hello my amazing family!!!!!!!!

Well, it was just like two days ago that I wrote and much hasn't changed.  I am feeling better.  I still have some pain in my back and I don't think that I have passed it yet but I am still drinking a lot of water.  It definitely wasn't the most fun week of my mission but it's alright.  I'm still fighting through it.  We are still just doing the zone meetings with all of the zones.  It's a lot of capacitacions (training) but it's fun to see all the missionaries and it is a little more personal when we do it with all the zones separately.  This week we are also going to have a meeting with all of the sisters in the mission. There are 5 sisters going home this change and after all of them go home, there are going to be a lot of sisters that don't have a lot of time left in the mission either. We have a lot of sisters who are just super young so we’re going to have this conference for them.  I have been focusing on the book of Mormon.  I have about talking about how the Lord from the beginning of the world has been preparing the way for the book of Mormon and this country so that he could restore His church and bring forth the Book of Mormon.  I have also been talking about how we need to teach better so that our investigators have the desire to read it.  Well family, thanks for everything that you all do for me.  You all are amazing.  I’m so grateful that Heavenly Father blessed me with such an amazing family.

Hello,
Sorry there wasn´t much time to write during the last few days but now we’re back in the office.  We had a fun time in La ceiba and it was fun to go work there with them.  A lot of stuff happened this past week. We had to do some emergency changes because of some things that were happening. We had to close an area in La ceiba because of some threats that they were getting which we’re not too sure about.  When we were down there I went with Elder Hafen to work there for a little bit and it seemed fine.  Then some of the sisters didn´t get a long too well so we had to change a few companionships around.  Then as you found out last night from President Veirs we didn´t have the best time in Colon.  I had a lot of pain so they took me to the clinic there which looked more like an old war clinic.  Then they gave me some durgs and we headed to San Pedro and I was in the hospital that night.  The pain went away and nothing showed up in the ultasound or in the x-ray but the doctor said I had a kidney stone.  So they released me because I didn´t have much pain but it came back.  Not as bad as it was in Colon but it still bothers me a lot and now I’m just drinking a lot of water so that I can pass it.  So yes -  that’s what is going on right now.  It’s really not that fun though - haha.  Have you guys ever had one of those?  I just hope that I pass it soon.  Sorry this is super short but I’ll get back to you on Saturday.  We’re not going to be traveling so I’ll have time then.

Hello everyone; how are you all doing?
Things are great here in good old San Pedro Sula.  This week was another busy one though. We had to opportunity to go to Copan and work with the missionaries there.  We left on Monday to go to Santa Rosa and to work with them.  I went on divisions with Elder Polendo.  He was a DL in Villanueva when I was there and now he´s the ZL in Copan.  It was really fun and we had a really good appointment together. We visited with a family and it was the first appointment with them. We didn´t teach all that much but had the chance to really get to know them and what their desires and concerns are in life.  They’re a great family and the parents have a strong desire to teach their kids the right things to do and to be good parents.  The gospel is really for them.  We won their confidence too.  That has to be one of the most important things that missionaries have to do is win the investigators confidence so that they trust us and will share what they feel with us.  If we don’t have their confidence, it makes things a lot harder because the people will never open up to us.  So that was a good experience.  Then on Tuesday we went to two district meetings, then headed to Santa Barbara.  I worked with Elder Peterson that evening and we had a fun time.  He is a really good missionary and teaches really well.  He´s the DL there.  It was really fun because it was pouring and we got super wet - haha.  We had two really good appointments also that went really well.  Then the next day we did weekly planning with them.  There are only four missionaries in this city and the closet missionaries to them are about 2 hours away.  We just put 2 sister missionaries there to open the area and they’re doing a great job.  Then to finish the week we had some more planning sessions with some other zones.  Planning is one of the key things that we have to teach missionaries so that we can better help our investigators so that has been a focus lately.  Yesterday and today we had the opportunity to go the stake conference in La Lima, where I started the mission.  Elder Martino was there and an area 70 from Guatemala.  They put in a new stake presedency.  It always great to listen to those men speak.  It was also really fun to see the old members from Pineda and some converts.  I’m excited for you to meet them.
Well that was pretty much this week.  I hope that Lenna had a happy birthday and that she was happy but I’m sure she was with all those presents that you all gave her.
