Nut Buddies: TSM's Msia Tour 07

Here's some pictures from last month's TSM Malaysia Tour (KL-Negri Sembilan-Melaka).

First stop ..... Bangi Golf Resort (27 Holes ... played 18). We love this course, especially the "kajang 9" which is the front nine. Amazing views from the tee-box and the course layout was fun. Also there was a special appearance by the DRM Golf Captain that day.

HSE Warning: Ada Buaya on the last hole.Next day... Tiara Golf @ Melaka. This has to be one of the best courses we played in Melaka esp. on the Lake 9. While the Woodland 9 reminded us of Jerudong.

Next .... Staffield Golf Course @ Negeri Sembilan. I'll give it an average rating .... ok ok aje!.

On the way back to Melaka ..... stop over at AFamosa Golf Resort for around of 9 on the Rocky 9. Wanted to play at the Crocodile 9 but it was close for maintenance (Kan menangkap buaya sudah kami).
Next day .... Orna Golf course @ Melaka. Just a few minutes away from the Tiara course. Played 27 hole. Kata-kata YourHighness "kalau tak fit, tak sanggup main ... boleh tengok museum saja lah". This was a fun course, esp the island par 3 and challenging hole 9 & 18. After a good night sleep, bright and early again the next morning for the highlight of the tour ... Saujana Golf Course. Played at the Palm first 9 and Bunga Raya first 9. We were amazed of the amazing beauty of the Saujana Palm and shocked when we saw the "Stadium" par4. The greens at Saujana are crazy ... banar cakap c Kamal atu "green dia macam cermin .. laju gila". But we didnt care, we had fun. Special thanks for Mr. J for sponsoring us on that day :) thanks sooooo muuuccchhhhhhhh! On the way back ... still shocked from the saujana experience ... suddenly saw a sign saying Kota Permai Golf Course ... since badan balum mengalih .. so, layan lah main 9 hole saja. Its a beautiful course, voted 2005/06 malaysia's best scenic golf course. I personally like the quality of the grass. Maintenance was very good. One dude decided to join on our flight that day .... we only finally found out later that day that that dude was actually the MD of that course. Anyway ... Thanks Mr. Bong for belanja us the caddy. Lastly .... Ayer Keroh Country Club @Melaka. Eventhough its cow grass, but it was properly maintained. Mixture of short par 4 and very long par 5 (approx. 600m). Ok ok aje lah ... the caddies are a bit ****** , inda handal cari bula. Official Tour Transport Official Guide book.

So if you wanna join the TSM tour 2008, application/interview is now open at YourHighness office. Pre-qualify .... you must be extremely fit (kalau mcm baru main dua course sanggal tia sudah tanggan atu ... jangan tah apply) and you must tahan makan pedas (YourHighness can update you on this .. heheh).

Guess what we found on the walls of some of the golf courses .... hehe they know we were coming ... hehhehe

The Meaning of Golf

Who will be DRMgolfnut Idol?

The new American Idol show is on. With all these singing competition going on these days, i realized that we at DRMgolfnut actually have some talented singers. Ever been in the same buggy with Mad Cat or Twister before? if you have .. you'll know what i mean.

But why do people always sing at the golf course? to make them calm? motivate themselves? or coz there's nothing else to do coz "pacah" sudah? The likes of Mad Cat, Twister, Fairway Artist and Gold Buaya would sing their hearts out with their very own versions of classic slow rock malay songs e.g. Isabella, sejati, etc. While the likes of Smiley would be singing classic P.Ramlee songs with a very deep voice "~~d waktu malam .. bulan mengambang~~~" or he'll be singing his "eye of the tiger" song to keep him in focus. The Freak would be singing different types of song, even songs from boybands such as boyzone to hardcore bands such as Korn .."Twisted Transistor"!!! Another good example of idol talent would be Twister's Bro. He has songs for everything... "kalau bola masuk bunker .. nyayi lagu ~~d tepi pantai~~".

So i guess golf is not the only thing these guys are good at. Keep on singing dudes!

Buy Buy Buy!!

You nutters need a change of equipment? Your current irons and drivers doesn’t seem to improve your distance and accuracy? Golfnut think its time for you to get those cash out and spend spend spend on these amazing equipments. (Also recommended by some DRMgolfers).
Mizuno MP-67 irons
Mizuno’s been coming out with some good range of irons lately and the latest one which is the MP-67 is an upgrade to the MP-60. With its cut muscle technology it claims to add extra distance to your shots. “I’ve been using Mizuno irons MP-60 for quite awhile now, its easy to use. It looks and feel like a muscle-back but plays like a cavity-back. The new Mp-67 should be better, it should give better forgiveness” [Loan Shark]. “I’ve only started using the MP-60 a few months ago. But one thing for sure it has surely improve my iron shots. Even when you hit the ball steep, but you still get a good shot out of it. The MP-67 should be really good since its an upgrade of MP-60. Anyone wants to buy my MP-60 so that I could buy the new MP-67? Heheh” [Smiley].
Srixon AD333 golf balls
These balls are not new in the market but who cares!! If you are short of cash and can’t afford to buy Pro-V balls … Golfnut recommend you get the AD333 instead. “AD333 are perfect for me, not to soft not to hard … just nice. It’s a good substitute to the PRO-V and its more that half the price” [Mad Cat]. “I’m used to using the Srixon soft-feel balls because they’re cheap (I always lose by balls, therefore I need cheap ones). But one day I saw Real Deal buying the AD333 and he recommend that they are great, so I decided to give them a go. Sure enough, not only the price is reasonable but it reacts very similar to the expensive ones” [Smiley]. Golfnut also recommends that buying the Srixon AD333 is cheaper at Panaga Pro Shop.
Callaway X Hot 3W & FT-i driver
The guys from Callaway golf must have been working really hard, both these clubs looks very impressive. The X Hot 3W is an improvement to an already magnificient X-3W. "Twister" been using the normal X3W and he inform that the club is easy to use and very forgiving. So i'm guessing the new X HOT 3W would be the same .. maybe better. They wouldn't name it HOT for nothing. Meanwhile, the FT-i driver is a revolutionary design. The guys at Callaway must be nuts or they must have figure out that maybe a square head driver is the way to go these days (even Nike goes square with its new SQ driver). It claims that by having a square head, they maximise the head size (PGA has limits), therefore by the laws of physics its creates greater momentum therefore equals powerful impact. The face seems to be flatter that other drivers aswell to provide straighter shots. These are only claims by the manufacturer, so why dont you nutters out there buy one so that we can all give it a go :)
Cobra's DWS baffler
These were all the buzz among DRM golfers late last year. It's a good replacement for your long irons. Its got a big head which makes it very forgiving. Straighter, longer shots and easy to use .. what else could you ask for? "i'm really considering of buying the baffler, since my iron shots (esp. 5 & 6 iron) aren't like what they used to be, i need an easy club to hit those 150 - 180 m shots ... and i think the baffler is my answer." [Freak].

Oakley O ROKR sunglasses
Not only that the Oakley lens protects your eyes from the harmful rays of the Brunei sun, but its also a bluetooth MP3 player. You can connect to your phone or ipod via bluetooth so that you can talk or hear to your favourite motivating songs e.g. "eye of the tiger", "are you ready for this..", etc wirelessly. It comes with 2 other colours (Black & Brown).
Oakley Golf Gloves
Looks abit brutal, just like the gloves guys use riding their bikes in the Dakar rally. But funny enough its actually a golf glove. Pretty nice too. Seen "Twister's Bro" using the black colour ones and he commented that the leather feels great and they are very comfortable.
Apple's iPhone
I know this gadget sounds like it has nothing to do with golf, but its such an amazing phone that maybe you nutters might be interested in. Sell your ipod away and get the iphone instead. The iPhone is a mobile phone with video ipod capabilities, plus its got WiFi and a 2 mega pixel camera. It even has a built in motion sensor (not sure what its for .. more information at apple's website). Imagine integrating this with the Oakley O ROKR ... like what Tom Cruise said from Jerry McGuire "you complete me". (hahha i also just realised that to get all these stuff ... "show me the money!!!!" ...hahah).

Smiley's Frustration

With the 1st monthly medal of 2007 DRMgolf tour looming; all DRMgolfers will be itching to prove themselves once again in winning the competition and get their names engrave on the prestige cup. BUT not for one particular golfer …. Smiley Khai. Smiley will be away for the next 8 weeks with other obligations besides golf. This means he will be missing out the January Monthly medal and this year’s first major at Empire.

Golfnut has an opportunity in interviewing Smiley at his Johor hotel room.
GN: What’s your expectation for 2007?
SK: “I think 2007 would be another great year for DRMgolfers. For me personally, i’m keeping my hopes high. I will be hoping to give the top seeded guys like the Freak, Twister, LOTP, GT Maniac and the Recruit a run for their money. I know it won’t be easy but with hard work and determination, anything is possible”.
GN: You don’t seem to be like yourself today. Is something wrong?
SK: “I’m not so sure … I’m just feeling a bit down lately”.
GN: Care to elaborate and share to our readers?
SK: “Well …. I’m disappointed of not able to compete in the next two DRM tournaments. It’s not just missing the chance to compete but also for just actually playing golf. I love golf. I love playing in the DRM tour. Golf is my passion; it’s more than just a sport. There’s nothing like golf; where you can hang out with bunch of nutters and crazy dudes for 4 hours. The game is so close to my heart, I feel free when I play. I miss smelling the cut fairway grasses, the warm breeze, the bouncy buggy ride, the boil egg at the half way house and even missing the hot morning sun. So when I can’t play, it feels all the fun has been taken away from me. This is frustrating for me”.
GN: Not a good start for 2007 then. Anyway, what’s your take on your performance last year?
SK: “I had mixed feelings, a bit disappointed in not reaching the BOTB. I can’t seem to hit my best form during tournament days. I’ll be playing really well one day then really bad the next. I can’t seem to get the consistency that I hope for. But overall, I think I did alright”.

Some of Smiley’s golf buddies felt Smiley’s frustration. “Smiley’s been playing well for the last couple of days. If he keeps this up, he has a good chance in winning at least one trophy this season. But unfortunately, with his obligation in Johor, it will be hard for him to keep his good form. Things like this always happen to him, especially when he’s on fire. Example, last year he was on hot form but then he had to go away for a few weeks and that has cause him the November monthly medal and poor performance in BOTB Qualifications. I feel sorry for the dude. He has potential of being a good golfer; he’s physically built for it; tall and powerful. He has that funny looking big smile on his face every time he gets a par or a birdie. We will definitely going to miss that for the next couple of months.” [The Freak].
“With the form he’s in and with his 2007 DRM handicap, I’m sure Smiley will be one of the players to watch out this year. But I just hope he can recover from his long break and get his form back” [The Twister].
So will we see the smile back on Smiley’s face this year or not? We all wish Smiley all the best.

Coach upgrade to Captain

All hail the new DRMgolf captain .... Ahmad "the Coach" Sufrizan! You are our leader, our inspiration, our motivator and our golf ambassador.
As you are all aware, DRMgolf Board of Directors had elected the Coach as DRMgolf 2007 Captain. The BOD are confident that the Coach has the ability to lead the DRMgolfers & nutters to glory this season and also to manage the DRMgolf 2007 Tour with great success. Golfnut thinks that the Coach is a worthy captain, not only has the Coach being voted as Most improve player 2006, Jerudong Monthly Medal winner, qualified for BOTB but he's one golfer that works harder than the rest (You can see him at the driving range hitting 200 balls before tournaments ... very determine and hard working .. i wonder sometimes where he gets his energy from ... Tongkat Ali kali?).
Just a few days in the new year ... Captain Coach is already hard at work. You've all read his email regarding his expectation and plan for this year and i have to say its going to be another great year for DRMgolf. "i hope i can coupe in organizing these events and hope everything will run smoothly. Takut ku karang sampai lima tournamnet saja ku tahan. Aku cuba lah" [Captain Coach].
Golfnut wishes the Captain all the best in his new role, any advice needed i'm sure ex-captain Freak will help (I think so lah .. hehehe)
