Going in the way back time machine here w/ some R&B/Doo Wop from 1957 from The Cadillacs. I post another 45 by them HERE: a while back. To some people this style of music is a dead art form but i personally really dig it. And yes, i still still listen to Celtic Frost, Hellhammer & Discharge....

As for The Cadillacs, here is the wiki info:

The Cadillacs were an American rock and roll and doo-wop group from Harlem, New York; active from 1953 to 1962. The group was noted for their 1955 hit "Speedoo", which was instrumental in attracting White audiences to Black rock and roll performers.

The group came together as The Carnations in 1953, with members Earl Carroll (lead vocalist), Bobby Phillips, Lavern Drake (bass vocalist), and Gus Willingham. As the group moved into the recording studios, James "Poppa" Clark was added as a fifth member, and the name "The Cadillacs" was given to them. The group's first recording came in July 1954, with Josie Records #765, featuring Gloria and Wonder Why.
In 1955, Willingham and Clark left the group and were replaced by Earl Wade and Charles Brooks. At this time, the group first began to experiment with choreography, suggested by manager Esther Navarro. Later that year came the group's biggest hit, "Speedoo", Carroll's nickname. Lavern Drake left the group in 1956 and was replaced by J. R. Bailey.
In 1957, differences in opinion caused the group to split. One group was initially known as The Four Cadillacs, with current bass J. R. Bailey, former bass Lavern Drake, and new members Roland Martinez and Bobby Spencer. The previous year, Bobby Spencer had written the "My Boy Lollipop" pop song shuffle for Barbie Gaye, which was played by Alan Freed and secured Barbie Gaye a spot in his 1956 Christmas Show opening for Little Richard. In 1964, an Ernest Ranglin produced ska version of the she song became a multi-million seller for Jamaican teenager Millie Small and made producer Chris Blackwell rich, leading to further development of his Island Records label.
The other four current members - Carroll, Wade, Brooks, and Phillips - continued recording separately, later as Earl Carroll and the Cadillacs. Bailey's group also included former group saxophonist Jesse "Tex" Powell, and recorded in early 1958 as Jesse Powell and the Caddys. Both groups recorded simultaneously on Josie Records. Later in 1958, the groups combined back into one. Carroll's backup vocalists, Wade, Brooks, and Phillips, all decided to retire and Carroll joined Bailey, Drake, Martinez and Spencer. Carroll's lead spot had been given to Spencer and Bailey, and he left shortly thereafter, creating a new group, Speedo and the Pearls, which recorded briefly in 1959. In 1959, the Cadillacs are also featured in the movie Go Johnny, Go
The group split and re-formed in 1960, with Carroll, Martinez, Kirk Davis, and bass Ronnie Bright. Later the group was Carroll, Martinez, the returning Bobby Spencer, Milton Love, and Reggie Barnes. Martinez, Love and Barnes were all members of The Solitares at one time.
In 1961, the group began to resemble The Coasters in their music. The lineup shifted again, now with Carroll, Martinez, Curtis Williams, Ray Brewster, and Irving Lee Gail. Carroll was out by 1963 to enter the group they'd been emulating, The Coasters, with Carl Gardner, Billy Guy, and former Cadillac Ronnie Bright. 1963 also ended the group's run on Josie Records.
Brewster and Martinez brought in former members Bobby Spencer and J. R. Bailey and continued to record through 1963. The group split, with Bailey joining the Jive Five. Brewster brought in former Cadillac/Solitare Milton Love with Solitares Bobby Baylor and Fred Barksdale. This group recorded briefly in 1964. Spencer became lead vocalist, with Joey Levine (Ohio Express, Reunion) as backing vocalist, for Crazy Elephant, a bubblegum music group, in 1969.
The Cadillacs were back in 1970 with J. R. Bailey, Bobby Spencer, original member Bobby Phillips (who had retired from Speedo's group during the split), and new member Leroy Binns, of The Charts. Steven Brown later replaced Phillips. Teddy Pendergrass came on as the groups drummer. The group split into the mid 1970s and some members joined Herold Melvin and the Bluenotes, including Teddy Pendergrass as drummer. In 1979 Earl Carroll, Earl Wade, Bobby Phillips, and Johnny Brown came together for a Subaru commercial.

Today i realized that i just don't do enough punk rock and hardcore posts so today two of my fave NJ HC bands together at last...! heh. A.O.D.'s Wacky Hijinx is a top 10 HC album for me. The only NJ album that rates higher is Mental Abuse Street's Of Filth. I was lucky enough to see and play with both bands a bunch of times back in the day. Did any band ever play as much as AOD? Man, those were fun times, young and dumb and full of cum... So here on this little ep from 1996 we have AOD doing a cover of the Mental Abuse classic Sock Woman!!! As well as a few re-workings of some classic AOD stuff. AS only AOD can do. Both bands are playing again and even tho Mental Abuse is a far different band than they were back then it was still fun seeing them. I still have not been able to catch AOD as of yet. DAMN IT! being a grown up sucks sometimes.... The only question left to answer is: IS SID SLUDGE ALIVE OR DEAD???

Only Living Witness - Freaklaw - Some Will Never Know

What we have here is some post hardcore - hardcore w/ a metal tinge from up Boston/Alston way....
The band was formed in 1989 in Boston by Jonah Jenkins (vocals) and Eric Stevenson (guitar, ex-Formicide). Eric's brother Kevin Stevenson (guitar) and former Formicide-bandmate Roy Costa (bass) completed the line-up. In 1991 Kevin and Roy were replaced by Craig Silverman and Chris Crowley. Kevin and Roy would go on to form The Shods.
Some real groove and power to this shit, w/ thick heavy Sab like riffs and capped off by some great vox. Only living witness were great and they had one of the finest singers ever in Mr. Jonah Jenkins. And one of my persoanl faves of all time. The dude has pipes, intesity and itelligence.
Since only living witness he has been a part of Milltown, Milligram and Raw Radar war among others, and started his own record label, TRAKTOR7, releasing albums by Milligram, Crash and Burn, Lamont, The Hidden, Waltham, Blacktail, Quintaine Americana, Morgan Knockers, and Black Helicopter.

This is also from 1983 and like the Child Abuse 7inch below is a fast blast of goofy sloppy snotty punk/hardcore. These guys were from Texas. And this has one of my fave punk rock album covers. Awesome....

Here is another from the Mutha files. From 1983 and New Jersey's Child Abuse. This one was just recently added to my quest to collect the entire Mutha catalog. I just happened upon an old NJ musician/store owner that has boxes of old unused stock of some Mutha releases and not having this one it was a welcome addition and at nice price. Anyone have the Burnt 7 inch???
The claim to fame with with one is the fact that the drummer was a mere 12 years old at the time of the recording of this 7 inch. It's no Mental Abuse or Chronic Sick but this an enjoyable quick sloppy mess of a punk/hardcore record and very indicative of the times being had in Jersey back then...
Enjoy a nice little slice of NJHC from 83 and a record that i guess is getting more rare all the time...

Old school NYHC from 1981.

Kraut was a New York band who started playing in 1981. Their very first performance was opening for the Clash at Bonds in NYC (Summer 1981). Members Include: Davey Gunner (vocals), Doug Holland (guitar/vocals) Don Cowan (bass/vocals), and Johnny Feedback (drums/vocals), and Ryk Oakley, producer. While recording their 1st album, they opened up for The Professionals (band) at the Channel Nightclub in Boston. Steve Jones (ex-Sex Pistols) and Kraut became good friends and recorded extra guitar tracks on "An Adjustment to Society" album. Steve was included on Kill for Cash, Sell Out and Onward. The video for "All Twisted" from that album appeared in rotation on MTV, the first independent band to be played on MTV. The band went on to release "Whetting the Scythe" and toured the USA.

Their early sound was New York Hardcore / Thrash. By the mid-'80s, Kraut had become a Hard rock/Metal band (à la later period SSD or similar Boston bands). Christopher Smith from Battalion of Saints joined and recorded with the band. He appears on some tracks with Doug Holland on later releases.

They appeared on several compilations and also put out some of their own releases. They were also the first New York Hardcore band to appear on television. Guitarist Doug Holland went on to play for New York Hardcore band the Cro-Mags.

OK peeps i survived my surgery but man am i in some serious pain right now and half out of my mind of percocets and darvocets so i will be brief here as i feel as if i am about to fall over in my chair after practically crawling up 2 flights of stairs to get to the computer in the attic. (how's that for dumb ass blogging dedication?) I though i was up for this, but fuck this shit, i need to get my ass back on the couch...

Anyway, what you have here is some more rare NJ Hardcore Punk shit on the Mutha label and one of my faves of the Mutha releases. These guys go from short sonic blasts to long dissonant Flipper like dirges and its very apparent that they just don't give a fuck... awesome shit. Yeah i have the insert but was too lazy to scan it...

In my never ending quest to find all thing Jersey here is one that had eluded me for a long while but i finally tracked it down and now for those that give a shit, i now give it to you.

Rosemary's Babies - Bloodlust is a fairly decent NJHC record but i guess the reason this has become sort of sought after is the fact that Eerie Von, who later went on to play w/ Danzing was a member. Misfits freaks who have to have all things Misfit take note.

Rosemary's Babies was an American hardcore punk band formed in Lodi, New Jersey in 1980. Its Members included J.R. - Vocals, Post Mortem (Robert Montena) - Bass, CA Richie (Craig Richardson) - Guitar, and Eerie Von (Eric Stellman) - Drums. The band was active until 1983 and produced a 7" EP titled "Blood Lust", released on the band's own Ghastly Records. A 2004 CD, Talking to the Dead includes tracks from the EP, previously unreleased songs, and tracks recorded live at CBGBs NYC May 15, 1983.

The band's early musical influences included The Misfits, and DC bands such as Minor Threat, The Bad Brains, and State of Alert (featuring vocalist Henry Rollins) as well as early British Oi! bands like Blitz, Charged GBH and Discharge. Other stylistic influences include films such as A Clockwork Orange and Caligula.

Rosemary's Babies was notably active in the New Jersey and New York hardcore punk scenes of the early 80's, and all band members continued to work in the music industry after the demise of the band. Eerie Von moved on to work with Glenn Danzig in the bands Samhain and Danzig.
