5K

On memorial day one of the wards here puts on a fundraising 5K run and breakfast every year.  Since Casey ran a 5K at his work and made it, I thought I would try one myself.  It was my first and quite possibly my last but I made it.  It took me 39 minutes including only a 5 minute walk.  I was pretty proud of myself considering it has been a while since I have run.

Mother's Day

Honduras

Casey was able to go to the temple dedication in Honduras where he served a mission.  I am so grateful his friend was kind enough to accompany him so I wouldn't worry about him being alone.  I think they both had a great time.  Maybe Casey can describe some of the photos.

Rodeo parade

There is an annual rodeo and rodeo parade here.  We went to family night at the rodeo and won some fancy sunglasses.  Then we watched the parade on Saturday.  During the parade there was a large grass fire just outside of town which put a heavy smoke cloud over us.  It was actually nice because temperatures that day got up to 102F!  When we returned home, there was burned grass all over the ground.

 There were lots of loud fire engine horns.

Exercise

The kids have been participating with me in my daily exercise.

New Park

When we went to pick Ez up from his train ride, we discovered an awesome new park.  The equipment was literally a tree house made of plastic.  It was so fun. 

Oompa Loompa

Zion was blessed with the opportunity to participate in the school play this year.  She was an Oompa Loompa and enjoyed every minute of it.  She also made many new friends and learned the importance of hard work and that sometimes commitments may be boring but you need to follow through.  I even got to help change scenery one night.

Preschool

We do pre-school with Ezra every once in a while.  This particular day we were putting words together with some cards Grandma gave us.  Ezra concentrated a lot on this project.  Every word had to be perfectly put together before he was satisfied.

Service tree

We have a family goal this year to do more service for others.  For a while we were putting leaves on a tree when we did service.  This lasted until it fell down.  It was a good visual of our progress.

Beach

We have a friend who was very kind and invited us to stay at their beach house with their family one weekend.  We had a blast.

Scrabble

We played Scrabble today after church.  Even though Hyrum and Ez don't spell well yet, it is one of all the kids' favorite games.  If you look closely, Hyrum spelled all his words backwards.  I was proud of him for being on his own team and spelling his own words.

In the Kitchen

Ez and Selah love to cook and bake with me.  My friend found me a pasta dryer so we tried it out.

Science Fair

Zion did a science project on memory this year.  She had us all do the game Simon on the iPod in different environments to see which environment we memorized better in.

 Zion also entered the drawing contest to see if her drawing would get on the shirts. She did pretty well but as you can see, her genie in the bottle with a potion did not make it to the shirt!
