Lately I've been a little discouraged and worried. Things that I have no control over have been bothering me. I've been telling myself that now isn't the right time to worry about things that won't occur for three months, but I can't help it, those far away things have been on my mind and bringing me down.
Now I have an annoying habit of hearing songs in my head all the time. Sometimes it's worse than others and right now it's really bad. Mostly I hear the song Susanna is singing for her Christmas recital because she practices it over and over. All through the day at work that song is in always in my mind.
But today I finally noticed a new song had taken it's place. "Count Your Many Blessings" was in my mind, mostly just the one line, "do not be discouraged, God is over all". As I finally became aware of this thought, I felt this was an answer to my prayers to not be discouraged over things I have no control over. Here was such a small but powerful answer for my latest problem. It reminded me that God is mindful of me at all times and I felt loved and comforted.

No blog today
I want to blog today. But I'm in a bad mood and don't think I should spill it publicly on a blog. I did see a license plate with a frame around it that said, "No Soup For You". That was the highlight of my day. So there, no blog for you.

Sick Days
I've got a goal to blog more often. But things are just so normal, there's nothing to say. But this last week we got hit with colds. Alex has stayed home three days in a row from school. I thought he might be faking it because staying home alone to play on the computer all day is probably more fun than going to school. I changed my mind when a friend called Alex to play and Alex told him he was sick and couldn't play. I'm sorry he's still not feeling good, but I was happy to decide he's not faking it.
On a side note, I've been to the doctor three times in the last two weeks. One doctor was my rheumatologist (Google assures me this is spelled correctly). We've made several decisions. One is I am going to stop my prednisone. I was only on 2.5 mg, a really small dose. But it's time to stop. Next, my main drug, methotrexate, which holds my immune system down, is causing my liver enzymes to be elevated. It's also cause folate anemia which is a lack of folic acid in my body causing my red blood cells to not carry as much oxygen as they are supposed to. I already take the max dose of folic acid, so hopefully not taking the methotrexate will help. I stopped taking it two weeks ago and I'll be tested in another week to see if it's helping.
In the mean time, I have to do another IVIG treatment. The home nurse will come in two weeks to administer it at home. After that is done, the doctor will put me on a new immune-suppressant. I'm nervous about switching drugs because I've felt so much better once my drug routine became final. Changing drugs can mess that delicate balance up so I'm slightly worried.
Anyway, back to the flu. Lance caught it after Alex. He's been up in the night throwing up and can't breathe. He took a day off work. I was asking him if he was going to work tomorrow, Monday, and he said he absolutely had to go to work. Lance never goes to work when he's sick so I asked him what was different this time. He said he was scheduled to meet with the First Presidency secretaries and he had to go. So if the Prophet can't go to General Conference because he has the flu, it'll be Lance's fault. They are so tightly scheduled that Lance doesn't feel like he can cancel on all the high ranking secretaries. So he's going all alone to his meeting where I told him not to shake anyone's hand. Can you imagine if one of the Twelve runs across him and tries to shake his hand? Could you shake it to be polite or withhold out of sanitary reasons? Let's hope Lance doesn't find out.

A New Beginning
My mom always says she liked fall the best out of the year. It was a time of beginning, when the kids all go back to school and we start a brand new academic year.
I have to admit I feel the same this year. It really has been a new beginning for me. Summer is over and a new school year begins. I have a new job at a new school. So far I've really liked my job. Everyone at this new school knows my actual name. No one calls me Jenna. I had several teachers at the my last school still calling me Jenna even after three years. At Oak Canyon Junior everyone, from the principal to all the math teachers,to the computer tech guy and the copy lady all can say my name correctly. It's like they had a get together to practice or something. I've never been so impressed.
My new job consists of two parts. One day I teach and the other day I am a teacher's aide. Those who followed me last year knew I was a teacher aide and I hated every single minute of it. Luckily this year is different than last. For one, I do teach. Two, I help out 6 other teachers and they all have work for me to do. I can go where I want and do whatever work needs to be done. Last year, there was no work for me to do and I was stuck in each classroom with nothing to do until the bell rang. This year, if I get tired of working for one teacher I get up and leave and go work on my own school stuff for awhile.
So here's to a new beginning this September. I know I've waited a long time for it and I plan to enjoy it for as long as it lasts.
