Work, work, work

Sometimes I really miss being home with my kids on a full time basis, like whoa...Work pays the bills, and I have some really great friends there, but it's seriously trying my ever-loving patience these days. I came home  to Gracie jumping up and down with pride and excitement today because she's now a diver!!  Wahooo...she's a great swimmer, but has shyed away from diving. I finally just enrolled her in a class at the U which she's been going to for 2 weeks now. She has been holding out though; she would NOT dive for her teacher(stubborn much?).. until today! Yippee, and I missed it. If I hadn't been at work, I would have seen her. Ugh the guilt. Hate it.  Same thing with Jackson, last week Dan took the kids to the Kearns rec center where they have the tall platforms-the olympic height kind?  Yep, Jackson was the first kid to jump right off!  I missed that too... :-/  Happy they are having a fun summer..but feeling bummed-

Back to blogging. Second time the charm?

Get ready, get set, GO!  I gave this blogging thing a try a few years ago, and I had a good run for a few months.  Then it went the way of my many journal attempts: sadly, no where! This is not something I'm proud to admit, but it's true. I've committed to give this another try..the "old college try" as they say.  Today was one of those wonderful, lazy Sundays where we slept in, had a wonderful brunch, and spent quality time together. The kids and I decided to give Dan a backyard firepit for his birthday this year, and I am determined to get this project done in a timely manner. (Sometimes I get going on multiple projects at the same time, and then things just don't get done.) So I spent the latter part of the evening digging a hole, and building this fire ring out of retaining wall blocks, which turn out to be extremely heavy! I definitely got my workout for the day.  The entire project will cost under $60 (proud of that fact!) and will result in hours and hours of family fun!  So excited to try it out!  I'll post pics when we get it completely done.

Our Yearly Oktoberfest Trek

My goodness, it is fall already, I don't know about you, but our summer went by quickly..... Every year we go up to Snowbird to celebrate Oktoberfest. It's so much fun, the yummy german food, the music, the Polka dancing, the rides for the kids, and a nice autumn hike, really get you in the spirit of the season.
We haven't taken any recent rides up through the canyon's, so I wasn't sure if the leaves would be very colorful yet, but were they ever! Little Cottonwood was at it's finest! I don't remember the last time I've seen it this beautiful. All along the road people were stopped on the sides taking pictures of the mountainside! We had to do the same.
