The Cliff Notes Version of the Longest 5 Months Ever & Why It's Been Hard to Update This Blog
The last few months have added up to a lifetime of living for our little family.
Summer started off with ease. Scout camp, visits, running around outside and vacation plans.
Then we started to notice that Michael was acting different. (Yep, here comes the bad part.) He was more tired than usual, kindof whiny and he started talking about his head hurting. After a phone call and visit to the doctor, it seemed like nothing more than a headache. He would be wanting to lay down one minute and then bouncing around the next. I kept thinking that he was coming down with something.
Then he did come down with something - only something that we couldn't identify and we were scared. The details are just sad and very painful but Michael was eventually diagnosed with an acute auto immune disorder. As awful as it was, we thought it was over and a one-time-horrible-thing. Only it came back.
School had started and this time the symptoms were less noticeable. Only now Dan and I are so paranoid, (and that nagging, is it really gone feeling, had never quite left us) we called the doctor and rushed him right to the hospital.
As of now, we are in a holding pattern to verify the diagnosis. Medication, MRI's and Time.
Our family has changed in many ways through this experience. We are closer. We trust that the hand of God really is in all things. We know each of us has potential beyond the normal, that give us power to handle deep, dark trials. The kids are closer and more considerate of each other and Dan and I have realized even more than ever what is truly important. We are happier.
Michael is doing well at home recovering from this latest episode and we are enjoying decorating for Christmas. He is excited to go back to school and see his friends.
Michael, feeling good and zoning out to the tube - obviously, ready to bust out of the joint!

Grandparents Visit
We had SUCH a nice time with Dan's parents this past week. It was wonderful and hopefully we didn't wear them out too much!

Sickie Is Full Of It
Christian went to bed last night chilled and proceeded to cough off all night so I knew he'd be down and out this morning. He woke up with a fever and has been sweating it off throughout the day so far. (He even took a shower - ALL HIS OWN IDEA - to get the sweat off!)
He got up a bit ago rejuvenated from the latest dose of Tylenol and pronounced -
"Mom, I sweat the bed again..."
His was very proud of his newly coined phrase.
