Homeless, it's not as bad as it sounds...

We are taking a brief sojourn down the path of minimalism* for the next month. It is an interesting exercise, but like most exercises, I'm not doing it for the pure joy of it and I plan to return to my bad habits as quickly as possible. Basically, we've got no place to keep "stuff" no-more. The house closed on the 1st of this month and all our positions (except 10 days worth of clothes and a few essential items) are packed away in a shipping container until we arrive at our new home. It has been a busy few weeks...

* Minimalist gives our condition an air of deep introspection or personal philosophy. In truth, it is an exercise in mooching. We are over at Grandma and Grandpa S. home taking advantage of their hospitality. Most nights we have been watching the Olympics on their big screen munching snacks out of their cupboards.

This might be old news to some but we are moving out of state. The plan is to be gone 5 years. This should be fun but there are definitely going to be some things we will miss.We gain a few things with the move that might offset the losses so here are a list of the trade offs.

   Lose                                                       Gain
-40                                            rain, rain and more rain
    New house                                             Old house
Motorcycle                               all year biking distance to work
5 person hot tub                                      1 person jacuzzi
Close to Family                               Far From Family (kidding)
social ambiguity and low pay                      Millionaire Status

Now that we are done with the craziness of selling the house, looking for a new one, packing up, moving out, cleaning, crags-listing, and dumping everything else, we now have a little time to play tourist here in for a few weeks till we roll out of town. I found some time now to update the blog.**

** It was actually the guilt produced by a few friends more than anything that lit the fire to get back on here.

The house we are moving into needs a bit of updating. I think it will be fun to do some of this work but Mommy is a little concerned that Daddy can't hack it. Daddy accepts the challenge. I will change this

into this (actually better because I am building it...)

So.. other news.

Thing 1 and 2 can ride bikes now...Thing 2 learned how to ride first and motivated Thing 1 a bit to get off his training wheels. It didn't take long. Progressed into the road hazards that I knew they would be. Thing 2 just about got ran over by a sports car tonight so you can see how great of a thing that is.

Baby is eating veggies and cereal now.

Daddy is about as sick of gymnastics during these summer Olympics as I get at ice-skating in the winter Olympics. I would rather watch ping pong. I have decided that anything judged in those things is junk. The Chinese dude on the rings was robbed. I'm also sick of commentators.

We are trying to pack in a fishing trip, a trip to Daddy's family, dip in the hot-springs, a sightseeing cruise, and a hike or two.Lots to do....

Catch you later.
