FFB is out of business
The last baby teeth in our family are beneath a pillow tonight. Fairy Fanny Belle will remain a constant in our house ... First Day of School Fairy (FDoSF), Last Day of School Fairy (LDoSF), Birthday Fairy, etc ... but her days of lugging big ol' (sometimes dirty!) teeth are done. #Feelingnostalgic

Day I'VE LOST TRACK!! And it doesn't matter. It was a good day.
Today I watched a funeral procession pass by the running trail of a young officer killed almost in the line of duty. On his way to or from duty in a squad car. In a car wreck.
A friend started her third round of 24+ rounds (!!) of chemotherapy. For breast cancer. It gives her "chemo brain" and makes it hard to do anything.
A high school friend, whose wife died of pancreatic cancer in August after living with it for way too long, died sometime this weekend. In his sleep. His babies are BABIES.
And here's what I did.
I ran with friends on the muddy trail. We ran hard but stopped at the mud, giving us time to breathe, pick around the muddy parts, and chat.
I ate cheesecake for breakfast.
Oh wait ... before that ... my oldest and youngest worked together to produce an anniversary card to me from The Tall One who was called away on our anniversary on emergency business. I think The Short One awoke around 442 to place my card "it's from daddy" by the coffee pot. And before he went to bed last night he asked me if I like penne pasta like he does, and "um how do you cook it again?"
Today, I updated my contact list ... email and street addresses ... and I marveled ... as I do each year ... how our friends and family span the globe.
I retrieved The Short One from school. Welcomed The Big One from the bus. Both Ones (mostly The Short One) helped me cook an anniversary dinner ... and shared it with me with table set and candle lit even when we realized The Tall One would not be home until late.
It was a damn good day.
I like my penne w/ butter and salt, but none of that nasty cheese.
But, for The Ones, I'd eat cheese.
Every day of my life.
And those would be GOOD days.

Days 20 and 21. Salsa.
Last night The Tall One and I went to an event with pretty people and tiny food. Tiny, yet delicious. Tiny, as in I wanted to steal all the tiny serving accoutrements.
To be good sports, we participated in salsa lessons ... when we weren't eating the BEST ceviche out of tiny shot glasses with the cutest tiny forks!
We salsa'd. And then decided it was just a polka where I turn the other way.
And then we decided one can really two-step to anything.
And then we did that. To a song w/ a WHOLE lotta sax.
Today The Tall One was reading the paper and noted an ad for tango lessons.
He gave me a grin w/ a head nod that seemed to say, "harumph ... some saps need lessons."
And I reminded him we SALSA'D ... not TANGO'D.
Harumph.
Eighteen years married tomorrow (18 YEARS!!) and oh dear golly he still makes me giggle.
May our dancing shoes NEVER be danced out!!

19. Tuck
I'm not much for rodents who are pets, but we are "fostering" a guinea pig and I think I love him.
Tuck. That's his name.
The cheesecake was tasty.
Tucking into bed now.
Sleepy.
Is this a haiku?

17 on 18
I realized when I got into bed last night that I'd not reviewed my day nor spewed an opinion.
It could wait. For I (ME!!) the NON-cheesecake baker in the house had (totally accidentally!!) baked TWO cheesecakes with NO cracks.

Diez y Seis de Octubre
Today I lunched and gala'd with the very sweetest group of women celebrating good works with a fruit plate, a silent auction and a fashion show. (And I won TWO prizes ... sqeeee!!) The fashions were culled from my favorite thrift shop in town ... the Saint Vincent de Paul store on trendy South Congress. Fun and funny how great and spirited the models were, some changing outfits multiple times and QUICKLY.
One of the sweetest introductions a model received, was to be recognized by the emcee as "Jane's daughter," and the audience, some 150+ in attendance, all murmured their sweet approval. "Oh ... JANE'S daughter," they seemed to say together. "Well, then she must be alllllright." And I thought THEN how the highest vote of approval one can achieve MUST BE to be KNOWN and RECOGNIZED as someone's daughter.
But, THEN ... I got an email from The Short One's teacher, and SHE said ... "As his MOM, you will want to know ..." and THEN I THOUGHT ... to be someone's MOM. GAH!!!! BONUS!!!
WELL ... I'm BOTH ... and that's better than cool new boots ANY day.

Gras Day 15.
My youngest had his first choir concert tonight and I'm not sure if he was more proud to sing for his big brother or his big brother was proud to see him sing. The Big One recorded every moment w/ no prompting and The Short One sang in PERFECT form (we couldn't HEAR him but he LOOKED great!). I wish he could continue choir this year, but he wants to BUILD STUFF in tech classes.
It's supposed to get COLD tonight and I'm READY. High in the 50s slated for tomorrow.
