International Student Exchange

Hi, it's Janelle Jeffrey Smith. I am currently working for ISE, International Student Exchange. We are in need of reliable host families for students arriving in August. Families with or without children are encouraged to consider hosting. ISE students arrive with medical insurance, personal expense money and a great desire to be a part of an American family. Our host families are asked only to provide room and board and lots of love! This is a wonderful opportunity to share our great country and make a lifelong friend. It is also a great opportunity for small children to learn about other cultures.

I have lots of students who need host families in order to secure their visas. The good thing is that you can chose between the students. Boy or girl, age, interests, country and language. Humanitarian Opportunity

Dear Friends and Family,

As most of you know, my parents are serving a mission in Sierra Leone, Africa. I am putting together a service project for some items the people they are serving desperately need. Between now and Dec. 1, I am collecting old eye glasses and button down, white shirts for men or boys. The outgoing elders from that country are quite small, so we are looking for short sleeve shirts, around size 15. We do not want anyone to go out and buy shirts, but if you or your “teacher” size sons have any old ones that are still intact, we would love to take them off your hands.

Please let me know if you have either of these items to donate. I am happy to come pick them up from you, or you can drop them at my house anytime. You can even just leave them on my porch if ever I’m not here.

If you don’t have any shirts or glasses to donate, I am also taking small cash donations to help cover the cost of shipping, which will be quite high. Even $5 or $10 dollars would be a big help.

Dog Walker Wanted

I recently had surgery and I am home recuperating and we need to hire someone to take our little dog Rio for walks. We would pay someone to take him on a walk, he is a very active walker and pulls (we aren't very good trainers) so it will need to be someone strong enough, who will hold on tight to his leash. We just thought maybe there is a mom who walks everyday or a college student who would want to earn some extra money for Christmas. Rio needs one walk in morning and one in the afternoon.

Change of Blog

This blog will no longer be listing RS birthdays, Sunday school lessons or "Stake/ward" buys.

This is a personal blog, with no supervision from the 10th Ward.

We will still be listing any neighborhood sales, parties, needs and or any other announcements that are emailed to Summer. But Church activities and announcements will be saved for weekly and monthly emails and announcements in the ward. On the same hand this blog will no longer have a link from our weekly and monthly emails. As long as emails come in I will post them, but only on a needed basis will I be posting.

Formula Coupons and Missing Coat

I periodically get $5 off coupons for Enfamil baby formula which I don't use. I hate to see them go to waste. Contact Jenny S. if you would like me to save them for you.

Also, there is a lime green and pink little girl's coat on my front porch. I think the tag says size 5T (it is faded). It has been there for almost a week. If your little girl is missing a coat, come and get it!

Potato Fundraiser

We've been the only owners of this car. It's had no accidents. It's been around the block a few times and doesn't ride as smooth as it used to, but it's definitely got some life left in it. It's been a great car. The only really ugly part is a minor munch over the front driver's wheel well. Someone back into in once while it was parked. I've attached a picture of that part. The Kelley Blue Book value is 1,025. We're asking $900.

NAMI Classes

Karen Salisbury and Tim Hanna will be teaching a NAMI Family to Family course starting Sept 8th and running 11 weeks on Wednesday nights from 6:30 to 9 p.m. (Classes are usually finished around 8:30 p.m.) This particular course is for family members of those suffering mental illness. It is a wonderful class, very insightful, and FREE! These classes are taught on a national level. She is adorable and very easy going! She is extremely tolerant of children and love to be held. She get lots of human attention. Both parents are friendly family dogs and it seems she is hypoallergenic (we have pet allergies and no one is bothered by her)
