Final Artist Statement

This term of Digital Photo we didn’t do to much project we just learned a lot of new things. Over this term I thing I did successful on my quilt squares. The reason why I think I did successful on my square is because I put in a lot of meaning things into one square; even though it doesn’t have a lot of things there a lot of meaning in to them. The most things I struggled with my surreal, the panning and blow out.

During the Surreal time I didn’t have anything on mind to do then I started to think real hard about things and I can up with something but wished I have had something on mind when we started the project. The Blow out and Panning was hard to do because I forgot how to set the setting on the camera to do them. I want to improve in the camera moods and learn a little more about the camera and how to set them. The thing that I have seen that I’ve growth and improvement in is thinking and show what I’m feeling inside.

The way I can improve them is take a class in college. My favorite thing that I have learned in class is the changing of layers you can do. I would like to learn more things you can do within the layers. The project that most connected wit my life ids the quilts because everything I put into them I put people and words that been in my life and close to me. The way it connects to my life is that you can look at the picture and you might see how or feel how my life may be. The most meaning project that I have done is my quilt squares.

Since, I’ve taken an art class my view of life and the world isn’t the same. The view I have now is different I really see how beautiful the world can really be after all. All this time I thought the world was just another day in the desert but now there are so many beautiful things in Arizona that I never. Out of the artists we have studied in class the one that related to me the most Faith Ringgold because you can put in a lot of one art work and it has so much meaning to it.

Blow Out and Panning

My Blow out picture could of been better maybe more light. Its not a great example of blow wish i could of had more picture to pick out of but we only took one. I think the ISO she be more down. My Panning picture isn't that great either but i think it was the lighting and i really didn't know how to take a good panning photo. Panning is a photo that is focus on a object and the background and everything around should be blurry. Which my photo isn't a good exple again but tried my best and this was the best one out them.

Shutter Speed

Shutter Speed takes picture in the dark and makes them look like they have light. You can take fun pictures with Shutter Speed. You can make object out of light like the second picture shows. The first picture she that in 15 seconds the camera is take a picture of you and putting light in it when you don’t have light in the room. In the room we had all the lights off, the entire computer off and the only light that was used was a flash light. The ISO had to be at a certain number if it was high then it would be lighter and sometimes it would be better lighter and sometimes it wouldn’t.

Aperture

Aperture is a tool you can use when you just wnt focus on one object and blurs out the background. I think the fist picture is using the a big hole and the second is using a small. The small lens makes the background more blurry then the big lens.

ISO is the speed of the camera it is refers to the film speed. ISO is an tool that you will only use when you want the bright lights to stand out and it to be the main object. The different between all my pictures is that it starts off dark and then the higher the number then the brighter it is. My pictures go from real dark to light. They even get a little pixilated. The only reason I would use ISO is when I don’t want to use flash and want the picture to be not just like a plain picture and want the Christmas lights showing. You have to be careful when your using the ISO tool is when you really need to and when you don’t want flash to take all light out.

Flash

The pros of flash is when you add flash it takes away the shadows, freezes time and eliminates blurring. The cons are flash disturb your subject, gives the picture an ugly lighting and makes the background very dark. Flash is not a good idea to use when you’re some where with good light like Christmas lights you would like to see the colors that the lights have. The image I used is better off not using light because without light you can see the movement of them betting on the drums and spot light they have on them on stage.

Metering

Light Metering looks at the main object and makes stand out. When you take metering picture you have to go close to the main object you want then hold the button down just a little then back up and then push down. In the first picture, I have up is looking at the computer so that why everything is dark around the computer. The second picture is mainly on my partner and so everything that is seemlier to her color is brighter. The way spot metering can help you in the future is that if you just want a current subject focus in your picture then you should use light metering.

Surrealism "Clock Life "

When I was listening to my client I just thought of time and sadness. Ashe was telling me she was trying to take back time. Also when she was telling about her dreams she was saying that they was an eye that was always watching her it was sometimes a big eye and sometime the eye will be little. She says there was always a crack that was breaking apart her life. Then she was always trying to back in time. She only had herself in life there was nobody else by her side so she try to find what happen to everybody by going back in time. Also, she said it was always gray feeling not bright or real dark.

Surreal Practice Tutorials

The thing we did in the Desert tutorial to make it look realistic. Starting with the floor it was a muddy and just a soiled picture and we change the color by adding a layer mask then we stretch out the sides by the adjustments. Then we mess with the clouds by asking two pictures to it. By doing both of the surreal photographs they will help me by creating a great surreal picture and know how to make thing that are not real look real will make it look even better.

ART SHOW "Senior Portraits"

I’m hired by my partner to do his Senior Portraits. Working together to get his portrait together; deciding what were going to use and what he want to take. We knew what we wanted to take; he wanted four photographs all together. Taking this photograph wasn’t easy; I had to try to get a good angle.

Working with his face expressions try to decide how we really wanted it to look like also wasn’t easy. The photograph looked like I used Photoshop which I didn’t so that was a great photo.

Senior Portfolio Show

The Strength of my design was all the nice brushes have put into it. I think nothing can be different about my cover I like it as it is. The only think I struggled on was the font. I think I did better with this one because I put more work into and it does not look plain.

Graduation

The Strength of my design was my photo of a graduation girl. The main subject is were your eyes flow to. The thing I would do better and different is to put into more time and more designs into because it’s too plain. Graphic Design was harder then I thought because you want to put your own touch into it but you also have to think about your client and what they want. The important thing about graphic design is always remember what you client wants and what is the main subject of what the client wants.

Over the two months working on our quilts I have learned a lot. I had fun doing them remembering thing that I have done and so forth. Suring this project my ideas changed a lot from brainstorming and putting everything together. My ideas in the beginning were not so good but putting together my pictures and my ideas they come out good that’s what I think. My quilts over al worked out doing my past was heart breaking but over welling. Then doing my future was pretty hard on me but from the past then looking at my future quilt there so different not so must similar thing within them but knowing that the future will be bright is good. Doing my inside and outside quilt were also different the way I see inside of myself and how people see as was crazy. Knowing people see as that kind of girl is good. Doing this project the tools I mostly used was messing with the different layers. Overall this was a long process but it come out to be a pretty fun thing. The experience doing this was exciding but also difficult. The thing I will do different is to have everything together and gather more pictures and put into more time into my quilts. The only thing that I might keep the same is the tools I used within them.

Artist Statement

In my portfolio, you will projects I have done over this semester. There are some I really tried my best on taking and there are some that were easy to do. My portfolio came out good. Yes, I did miss so projects that I had to make up on my own but overall its good and I tried my best on it.

This semester in digital photo I have learned so many different things. I have learned how to use Photoshop, to take better photos, what not to do and how to do it way better. The way I feel that I’m most successful with all the photos I took and the ones my partners took of me, their was points I did struggled with thing like in Photoshop the was some tool I forgot how to use them.

During this class I have learn a lot of tools for photos I can take for the future and use well. I can use it into project I might do or even on my free time to create something new. I have seen improvement in taking picture like the project I did for a portraits they all come out good but one we struggled with but know I can do better.

I chose this poem is because it about love and I wrote it. When I wrote this poem I was in a good mood and was thinking about life. This poem is most about a girl who is in love with this guy, and which she would do anything for his love. In the poem I say "no else in the world can ever compare" which mean no will ever love her as much as he does.

Social Issue"Where did it go"

In the photograph, there is a large clock in the background that is black and red. In the photograph there a teenager girl push the legs of the clock backwards. The border of the photo is red. Font is big so everybody that sees my picture can read.

My photograph is representing how we all want to go back in time to see where it all went. It might be love, mistakes, memories, life or age. Issue I have are with my age i wish i can go back in time and still be young.

Scary Effects

My favorite out of the two is the alien because it was fun making the photo and i did this one in class so even better didn't have to do it on my own. The burn & dogged tool was new that we learned, it gave the photo more pop to it. I think both of this photos come out good and i did well in but just had to remember all the little tools we learned. This photo to real life like photoshop and photographs will be good for scary movies and books about aliens.

Photographic Effects

Over the past couple of days we have learned a lot of new tricks and tools. The trick that was fun to learn was the blur and healing process. Reason why I liked those tools is because it brought out the picture more. The levels were fun also will like to work more with on my own.

Portraits

The portrait that I was most successful was artistic photograph. The reason why is because it has most energy and feeling into the picture. What I did to make my photo to be artistic is that I used a object that we haven't used and made it have a great feeling. The mood that I capture is sadness and anger in the photograph. The prop photograph that I choose was to use his golf uniform and to use the background to look like if he is in a golf field the reason why was because he likes playing golf. No, I didn't like how this photo came out because it was blur and it was not showing much feeling. The surprise photo that I took was an light photograph and the reason why it makes it different from the other pictures because you might look at the photo and might think he might be an writer or even a photographer just the great feeling the photo gives you.

Out of the 8 compositional trick i like the most is the extreme angle because it gives you a view that you don't see everyday. The trick that i will use day to day photograph is the macro because it make a the main subject pop out and have a feel to it.The photo that was my most least favorite was the simplicity because it was complicated to take. The photo that i took that is my favorite was my leading lines photo because it took to the main subject stand out.

Compositional Trick #8 Fill in Flash

Fill in Flasheffect my photo by show the way the flash makes the darkness of the picture like in the sharde; it may be a nice bright day out but in the sharde a picture can be dark lke the ones shown above. In the future i would use fill in flash when im torde the sunlight and i wanna get a great picture ill put the flash on so i can see the object or person.

Compositional Trick #7 Drawing with Light

Using light with my photograph shows a strong feeling in his face. When I look at this photo I start to wonder whats his is feeling inside like if his sad.

Compositional Trick #6 Framing

The framing compositional helps to guide the eye to the main subject. The framing picture the main subject stand out and be forces. It help you to look into his eye.

Compositional Trick #5 Extreme Angles

This is a good compositional trick because taking a photo in an extreme angles creates the viewer's point of view to see the world in a new light. A bird or an giants have a view that we cant see their high and the first picture show a way the might look at the world. Worms, ants and small insects have a different point of view of the world and the second picture show the way the may look at the world.

Compositional Trick #4 Simplicity

Simplicity makes the composition stronger doesn't make the picture boring the background may not have much but the picture has a lot of meaning to it. Simplicity is an effective trick and can be used in good cases.

Compositional Trick #3 Macro

Macro photographs close up to small objects and shade surroundings. Its good to use macro because it pops of the small object has focus on it and softens the background.

Compositional Trick #2 Leading Lines

Leading Lines lead to the viewers eyes gaze to the image. The reason why i would use leading line in a photo is if i would want to my viewers to fall deep into the image taken.
