Well over 2 years ago...
we did a fundraising campaign for
What's really funny now looking back on that...
it was one of my little bargain's with God (I think)
Me: "God, are you really calling us to adopt? Surely not???!!!
craziest thought ever!
How about I just help get some people in Africa some clean water instead??"
HAHA!
It's really funny looking back on it!
And we have come so far from that thought of thinking!

The kids were so little!
We delivered krispy kreme donuts to friends who lived near us...
along with a little card that shared info about charity:water.
we gave out 1/2 dozen donuts to friends and family that lived close by
5 glazed donuts representing clean water, and 1 chocolate representing dirty water.
because at that time...
1 in every 6 people on the planet drank dirty water...
that makes them sick or even causes death!
The statistic has now changed to 1 in 8... progress people... but not enough.

and of course, Aimee and Cassidy were right there in the middle of it all
helping us with everything from picking up, packaging, delivering, and a matching grant!
After our campaign closed,
we found out that we really had no say in where the
water well would be constructed that we fundraised for.
We were just a little sad that we could not specify for it to be in Ethiopia or Africa....
that it would be constructed wherever the greatest need was.
but hey - everyone needs clean water - so it was okay.
Then about 2 months after that...
we received an email that low and behold!
Our well would be constructed in...
ETHIOPIA!!!
We were so HAPPY and EXCITED!
God totally winked at us!
Fast Forward... to yesterday!!!
we received an email with the
PROOF

(that I might get tattooed!
totally kidding!!)
and you can even look it up on google earth.
do it!
MOST AWESOME THING EVER!
And y'all!

to those of you that gave to our campaign
way back in 2009-2010.
Friends that gave that we see every day
and friends and family gave that we haven't seen in 20 years!
That water well is a reality now.
Amazing, really!!!!
The pics just did me in.
I mean, those women....
our email said that they used to walk 3 hours a day
to get DIRTY water (that made them sick sometimes)...
before this well was built.
and now...
it's right there in their village.
oh and that little boy.
that sweet little boy.
well, I've got it bad for little toddler boys
oh my gracious!!! do you see that CLEAN WATER coming out?!?!
and thank you to our friends,
the Woodwards...
that gave us a matching grant for this water well.
We will be forever thankful.
