Thanksgiving, Ry's Big Day, Football and Sleepovers

Thanksgiving this year was awesome! I loved it and sad that it's over. My entire family was there which doesn't happen too often, and it was great to see everybody.

Branson kicked off the week by building a huge fort downstairs for all the grand kids. We had popcorn, chips and chocolate as an appetizer, pasta, pizza and bread sticks for dinner, then more popcorn for dessert while we watched Toy Story 3.

On Thanksgiving, we had our annual football game and it was just as good as always!

Winners=Siaki, Bennett, Bradley, Britt, Branson and Brigham
Losers=Brent, Chase, Bridger, Bailey and Jared
The losers had to do the dishes after dinner but they are all wussy's and didn't do it. (ahem CHASE) My team won of course, with 2 TD's by yours truly :) My bro's are the best, we had a ton of fun.

Thanksgiving night, Chase and I had 6 not-so-little monsters sleep over at our house, in our 1 tiny guest bedroom. It was crowded to say the least. We made snowflake ornaments and went to bed. We piled 4 on the bed and 2 on the ground. Although we had a couple of kids get up to go to the bathroom, there was no crying, no sicknesses and no fighting. A miracle! There was some sleepwalking and lots and lots of giggling, but overall they were great. (Because they are scared of Uncle Chase haha).

 Yes, they are all faking sleep. I just wanted a picture and they had to pretend to be asleep. Told you they are monsters :)

Saturday was a great day because my little Syriah got baptized! The entire family was there, plus my Aunt and Uncle from Idaho. It was truly a special day. The girls got up and sang the Baptism song and it was so sweet, I cried the whole time :) The spirit was so strong through out the baptism, and I'm so proud of Syriah. Uncle Bennett baptized her and Uncle Chase confirmed her.

Last week was rockin' and was one of the best Thanksgiving's EVER. Love you all and I'm so grateful for my family and friends.

Birdy Frame

I finally finished and hung up my new little creation, my "birdy frame". When Chase, my mom and I went up to Brighton, CO to visit my brother and sister-in-law's family, Robin sent me home with this little beauty. 

I love the size, the color, and the glass. It was perfect! It sat around for a couple of weeks until I was sitting on the couch watching HGTV and had an epiphany.  I could mod podge some fabric on it and hang it in my bathroom. The walls in my bathroom are completely blank, so I went for it.

Some paint had gotten on the glass, so I scrapped it off with a razor blade. I found a cute image online, blew it up and taped it to the back of my glass. I then changed my mind and wanted to put the fabric behind the glass for two reasons. 1) So it wouldn't get wet and ruin and 2) so it would be easier to clean. Because I had already printed out the image and it had taken like 8 sheets of paper plus tons of time trying to get my printer to work, I didn't want to flip the image and do it all again so I traced it with a dry erase marker on the front side, took off the paper and ta-da! I was ready to start mod-podging. (if that's a word)

 I cut out all my little leaves and birds, spread mod podge on the front side and stuck it face down on the glass. With just a little rubbing, they set like a charm. I used brown craft paint to paint the tree branch and had to use like 15 coats to make sure you couldn't see through it. When I flipped it around, this is what I got!

I kinda love it.

It did chill on the floor for a bit because I ran out of sawtooth hangy things, but now it is finally up! The best part is that I found a cute hook that is painting the exact same color as this frame from a garage sale for $1. That's my next bathroom project. Some beadboard, paint and a green hook. Perfect!!

Weekend Fun

I was trying to convince Chase to write this post but failed. He's much better at writing than me! But this is just a random post with the doings of the super awesome Warnicks. :)

 We went to the BYU game and they finally won! Yay! We look rockin in our matching hoodies huh. Chase wanted a BYU hoodie so we went to the mall and found one at Finish Line. It was $35 of 2 for $40, so we got another one! My baby brother Baily and I were the same size so I'm either going to make him buy it from me or give it to him for Christmas or something. Brilliant, I know!

 My studly little bro Bennett. It was senior night last week for football, so it was Bennett's last time playing at MVHS. He does so well and I hope he continues to play. Love you bro! 

(even if you head butted me SO hard on Sunday and I swear I have a concussion. Don't worry, I got my payback! Ha!)

I have exciting news for this weekend.... I'M GOING TO DENVER! I'm very excited. My awesome brother is surprising my even-more-awesome sis-in-law with a trip to NYC for her birthday. I don't get to go the NYC, but I do get to hang out with my nieces and nephews all weekend! Little bro Branson is coming because it's his fall break so it will be good times.

Picture Day!!

My sister is out of town and the girls had school pictures on Friday so I got to get them ready! I went over Thursday night to get them in bed, and we took {before} and {after} pictures. It was fun! Here are the little beauties. 

Yup, Syriah has no pants on.

Ry wanted her hair in curlers, and Koloa and Olivia have to braid their hair before they go to bed or it will be W.I.L.D. in the morning. They are little stinkers. After much debating on outfits, hair-do's and such, they finally were ready for school! 

(and plenty early might I add, they even made it on time to eat breakfast at the school because that's super cool and I'm the best auntie)

So cute!!! Ry's hair was super super curly, so we put it in a side pony. Koloa will never ever wear her hair down, so we did it like the most annoying human being on the face of the planet Miley Cyrus. She's also wearing a little clip I made late the night before out of some flowers I cut out from my left over wedding dress lace. Libby went hippie style (my fav!) and also got a flower clip I made! Yay! Fun times.


That same day, Chase and I went up to Park City with his family for conference weekend. We also got family pictures taken and they turned out good!

This one is my fav! We got ones of the entire family, but we don't have those ones yet. I'll post more about PC tomorrow.

Living Room Love

This next post is just pictures of other things I've made/recreated in my living room. This little beauty I picked up at DI, but it was badly in need of a makeover. The cushion was a little dirty and the wood trim stain was worn and uneven. I wish I would have taken a {before} picture.
(I bet I'll say that 100 more times because I didn't take ANY before pictures for most of my projects, but I do now!)
Anyways, I cleaned it and got tons of dirt and grime off, then sanded and primed the trim. I dropped the cushion off at the dry cleaners with Chase's church pants and it cost a whole of $8 for everything. I then painted the trim an olive green to make it look new, then sanded the edges to make it look old again.

This was the result! I love it. It's a super comfy little chair, but it's in an awkward spot in the room because we don't really have place for it yet. Chase tried to make me get rid of it, but it's not going anywhere, trust me.

The little pillow was made from a $2 clearance place mat I came across at Kohl's. I just unpicked about 1/3 of the side, filled it with stuffing and stitched it back up. Viola! Easy, cheap, cute pillow. And it matches perfectly :)



My next little project was an ugly night stand that was given to us and then the giver tried to take it back after I had painted it, but I don't go for the Indian giver thing when we got married. This would have made an awesome before/after picture thing, but whatever. It was just plain jane brown with a boring stark white lamp shade. Chase did the honors and primed the little baby, then I painted it a sweet turquoise and stained it to give it some character. This is what we got!

I didn't notice that the peacock feathers on our wedding book were totally skiwampus, that would probably be the doing of my nieces......

Since the bright white lamp shade wasn't working with the new paint job, I grabbed a $.50 piece of muslin from Wal-mart and covered it up. Using some hot glue and scissors, I just stretched the fabric tightly and glued as I went, snipping out the places where the little bars go inside to make it nice and snug. I then made the little rosette flowers, and it made the whole thing look 100x better!


When I came home one Saturday after some major garage selling/thrift store shopping with a bunch of random plates, I showed my hubby my amazing finds. He politely asked me why I got so many random, mismatching plates (which were all sooooo cheap might I add) and I told him I was making a plate wall.

"A what??"
"A plate wall" I repeated. "I'm putting the plates on the wall. Cool huh!"

Chase seemed less than thrilled about the idea, and was probably seriously doubting me at the time. He was so confused on why I would put plates on the wall. Silly boy.

I like how they turned out! I like that I can easily switch them out if I want to.

I made this little beauty out of a plain white letter "W" I got for half off at Robert's. I painted it green then hot glued Spanish moss all over it. I got the frame at a yard sale. I don't know if it will stay on the plate wall, I'll probably find a new home for it soon.

Everything is a little mismatched, but I like it that way. My design theme is "if I like it, it goes." Pretty sweet if you ask me!

My Mad Sewing Skills.....

Ok, so maybe I can't sew a straight line to save my life, but that's the beauty of these curtains! My curtains are one of my favorite projects I’ve done so far. I bought the fabric at Home Fabrics next to Michael’s in Orem, and got two $.25 brown twin sheets on clearance at Walmart for the back of the yellow living room ones. I love how they turned out! They were super easy (once I figured out how to do it), and did them {almost} by myself, with the help of the amazing Lisa when I was stuck. I followed the instructions from this blog. I got the curtain rods and hold backs for the living room set at a garage sale for about $2 and made hold back for the dining room bay windows from $.50 white plates I got at DI.

The color is sorta weird in this picture, but they are a nice mustard yellow. I couldn't get a good picture of the entire window because of the sun but I'm sure you get the idea!

Now I have my mom's sewing machine at my house so I can use it whenever I want! I actually just made a little pillow for my $5 vanity chair find from DI. I got the fabric at a garage sale last week and whipped this little puppy up in about 15 minutes (after I tried to turn the sewing machine on for about 10 minutes and called my mom frantically wondering why it wasn't working to discover that all four outlets I had tried to plug it in weren’t working! What are the darn chances?? Grrrr……)

I spray painted the metal bench Ivory Gloss and made four little ties on the bottom of the pillow to make sure it stays put. I also made the cover removable so I could wash it. I will eventually be painting the vanity white too.

Finally....

I'm blogging again! I know I'm awful at it, but I'm really going to try to be better. Since it's been forever a little while since I’ve posted anything, I’ll just post some pictures of what we have been up to our first year of marriage!
