Andrew was a good sport and let me dress him up this year for Halloween. I've never celebrated Halloween before, (because it is EVIL), but for some reason, having a baby to dress up makes it all okay.

So, can you tell who he is supposed to be? His little badge says "Texas Ranger" on it.

I also carved my first pumpkin EVER this year. I call it a "twinkle pumpkin" not a jack-o-lantern. Jack-o-lanterns are scary.

Happy Fourth Anniversary!

Today is our fourth wedding anniversary! I couldn't have picked a better man to marry! I love you, Honey!

First Birthday!

We celebrated Andrew's first birthday on Oct 10th. The theme was Baby Einstein since he is such a big fan of the DVD's and toys. Andrew's actual birthday is the 13th, but I celebrated all week!

Prayer Request

I am compelled to pray for this child, Andrew Dorsey, whom I do not know. I was directed to his mother's blog via a decorating blog I like to read. Andrew is suffering with a brain tumor and needs a miracle in order to live. If you are reading my blog, please say a prayer for Andrew Dorsey and his family. They live in Florida.

Stayin' Alive

Just an update of what's been going on around here the last week and a half.
Last Monday morning, I woke up feeling kind of nauseated. After about 2 hours or so, I realized I'd caught the throw-up virus. I had to call Mike home from work to take care of Andrew and keep him away from me. Several times that day I told Mike I would be going to the hospital. I have had this before and I know how my body acts. Mike never having been through this with his wife before, seemed to not understand the seriousness of the situation, and empathetically offered me some Pepto Bismal. I became frustrated and told him to take Andrew to his parents and then me to the ER. Well, he got Andrew all packed up and delivered to his mom. By the time he returned, I wasn't able to stand without fainting. After lying on the bathroom floor for a while, I told him to call an ambulance. I can't tell you how both surreal and comforting it was to hear a siren off in the distance knowing they were coming for me. Thankfully they arrived within 3 minutes and started my IV. My blood pressure was very low and I was very dehydrated. They had to take me down the stairs in a "stair chair" which was embarrassing but necessary and they got me into the ambulance and into the ER in about 5 minutes. I had never ridden in an ambulance before. I remember looking out the back windows to see traffic pulling off to the shoulder. I felt both embarrassed and thankful at the same time. Two hours later, I felt like a new woman full of fluids, pain killer and anti-nausea. The paramedics couldn't have been nicer either!

Two days later, Mike woke up with the throw up virus. It was a fun week!!!

I have to thank my Mom and Sister in Law, Suzanne, for coming to take care of our baby while we recuperated and tried not to infect anyone else.

9 Month Portraits

We had Andrew's 9 month old portraits made a couple of weeks ago. Here a few of my favorites.

Andrew got a walker from his P.J. and Papi last week. It's been pretty fun so far! He's learned he can use it to chase the dog around. Of course, seeing her lick him all over makes me cringe a little, but that's what baths are for. I just love watching Andrew get so excited over her!

I am 9 months old today!

Hey everyone,
It's me, Andrew. I am 9 months old today! You won't believe what I'm doing now! I'm crawling, trying to stand up, eating Nilla Wafers with my 6 teeth, and playing mind tricks on the dog. I go swimming with my Mommy and Daddy (and sometimes my Papi and Grandpa take me). I'm riding in a big boy car seat now too. I am already 22 pounds and 29 inches tall. I am really growing fast! I am making lots of silly noises with my mouth these days too. Really, I'm hysterical--my Mommy says so. I've finally gotten used to eating some green kinds of baby food in addition to the gold colored foods I've always loved. My favorite is still bananas, probably, but Nilla Wafers are really good too!

Andrew's New Toy

Andrew and I are visiting P.J. and Papi this week at their house. When Papi went out to the store, he bought Andrew a new toy to play with. We didn't expect this kind of reaction, but he obviously thought it was very funny! Try to ignore my shakey camera work. I was laughing at him.

Happy 1st Father's Day to Mike!

Today was Mike's first Father's Day. He slept in until 9:00 and awoke to a hearty breakfast of pancakes, eggs, bacon and coffee made by Andrew and myself. Andrew presented his daddy with a card and DVD--which was Disney's animated version of Robin Hood. Andrew had overheard Mike saying that if he had that movie, he'd sit down and watch the whole thing because it was his favorite Disney movie when he was a kid. So, Andrew stayed up late one night and found it online for his daddy. He's such a thoughtful baby! I thought it would be nice to blog about Mike's first Father's Day so there would be documentation and picture evidence that I actually cooked breakfast for him. That is something I don't ever do and probably have never done in the 3.5 years we've been married.

It's been exciting for me to watch our shrubs and trees bloom this year. Since we haven't been in this house for a whole year yet, we didn't really know what was planted in our yard. Here are some pictures of what I'm talking about. And yes, it appears that I have become one of THOSE women who posts pictures of shrubbery on her blog.

Doc's appointment

Andrew recently had a dermatology appointment. While we waited for the doctor, he destroyed several yards of the paper on the exam table. He would have destroyed the whole roll had I not taken it away from him. But, it was a blast watching him play with what he did get.

Happy New Year!

Hope you all had a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. We did! It was Andrew's first Christmas and he obviously had been a very good boy for the first 12 weeks of his life. We spent Christmas Eve with Mike's parents and brother, then went to Troy on Christmas Day for a 2 day visit with my parents, brother and sister in law.
Mike had the whole week of New Year's off from work, so he busied himself with household projects while I "played Mommy" and did chores. Since we've only lived in this house for about 11 weeks, there's still a lot to do as far as decorating and landscaping. I think we are planning to host the Murphy family reunion this summer, so now we have a deadline to get some things done. I like having big events to look forward to. I am always sad after Christmas is over, so having a family reunion at our house will help keep me motivated.
