Wow. I'm terrible at keeping this updated! I'm sorry. :(
It is less than a month before I go to school. Did you get that? I'm going to school! YES!! I'm so excited, I've been talking about it non-stop since March when Mom and Dad signed all the papers. Mom had to write a check and said something about "and so it begins".
Mom and Dad have been trying to explain this whole school thing to me, but I don't think I completely understand it. It sounds like fun. I love doing math and spelling words. I can count to 120 without stopping. I know all of my letters and try to make words with them.
I've grown so much too! I can finally wear clothes in the big boy section of the store! Yay! No more baby stuff for me. :D
My little sister is getting big too and tries to copy everything I do. It's soooo annoying! I'm a little worried about her though for when I go to school. I asked Mom if Lila was going to be ok when I go to school. Mom says she'll be fine since Lila will still have her friends at daycare.
I like daycare, but just between you and me, I'm sooooo ready to go to school. I'm going to meet kids my own age. I'm going to learn stuff. I'm going to be a genius and make lots of money and buy Mom a house. Well, that's what I told her anyway.
Anyway, I know this is a short update and I'll try to keep up with my updates again. I miss you all!
Love you,
DJ

Another 3 months later...
Hello! Yes, I'm a slacker. :( I'm cute though so you can't hate me for too long! Thanks for coming back to read about me....and my sister, I guess.
The last 3 months have been super crazy. Great Grandma Phyllis was here for most of the summer and that was so much fun! Since Mommy wasn't working, we went to visit her at Grandma's house. We played and talked and played and went to the water park and read books and did puzzles and it was just so much fun!

Great Grandma Phyllis with all her Great Grandchildren:
Mikayla, Lila, Regan, and Me
July was pretty busy, but the bestest thing ever happened in August: Mommy started a new job! She loves her job and tries really hard to do a good job at it. Every night, at dinner time, I ask her, "So, Mom, how was your day?" She always laughs when I ask her that. Then we talk about our day. Its nice because we're almost the same! We are both learning new things and meeting new people. We both laugh and have fun, but know how to get down to business when we have to. Well, at least I do at lunch time. Eating is serious business. :) Daddy tells us about his day too and Lila throws her food on the floor. Dinner time is fun.
August went by really fast because of all the new stuff we were doing. Daycare is so much fun! I get to play with lots of other kids. Katie, the lady that watches us, is really nice and I like her a lot. Mommy drops us off in the morning and Daddy picks us up in the afternoon. We're usually playing outside when Daddy picks us up. I always look forward to going to Katie's house.
September has also been a pretty busy month. The first weekend was Labor Day weekend so Mommy and Daddy had an extra day off over the weekend. We spent the whole time redoing Lila's room. It's all pink and purple now. Yuck. But, whatever. It keeps her happy. The second weekend was the church carnival and we were in charge of the nursery at church that day. Then the 3rd weekend included a baptism for my cousins! Yay!
Last weekend, we went to Iowa to Great Grandma Berding's 90th birthday party. Her birthday is in December, like mine and Lila's, but she wanted to have the party while it was still nice enough for people to come. I had so much fun! I learned how to throw a Frisbee (sort of) and we slept in a hotel room. We didn't get any pictures of the party, because Mom had a major blonde moment and forgot the camera.
Man! My life doesn't get much better!!
Oh, wait...bad things do happen. :( Last week, Lila caught Hand Foot Mouth disease and then earlier this week, I got it. It is not fun. I had sores in my mouth, on my hands and feet and just felt crummy. Luckily, we both got over it quickly. The only good thing about being sick is that Mommy lets me watch movies all day! :)
I'm growing so fast! I'm about 36 pounds now and have gotten taller. I don't know how tall yet, but I know I've definitely grown. Lila is finally up to 23 pounds! I figure, at almost 2 years old, she's still a peanut.
Anyway...that's about it for our last 3 months. Here are some pictures for you to feast your eyes upon. :)

3 Months Later...
Wow. It has been three months since I talked to you. I didn't realize it had been that long. I am now 3 1/2 years old! My favorite hobbies are playing with cars and dinosaurs, watching cartoons and movies, playing in the sand box, learning to play baseball, riding my new bike, tormenting my sister, and driving Mom crazy. :)
The last 6 months haven't been easy at home. Mom started doing school work so she's busy a lot now. She tries to wait until we're in bed so she doesn't miss any time with us, but there are some days that she just has to do some homework. Those days are hard and I know she feels really bad and would much rather play with Lila and me. Daddy is working in the maintenance department at work now and he comes home tired. We don't get to play as much anymore. Mom said that he's making more money now and that's good since she is still not working. So, I guess, it's ok.
Mom takes us out to see Grandma Barb a couple of times a month though. Those days are really fun! I get to see Grandma and get out of the house. The last few times, I even got to play with my cousins Mikayla and Regan. They live near Grandma so we get to play with each other a lot. Every time we go to Grandma's house, I remind Mom that she has to turn the car so that it goes by the "yellow smiley face watercan tower" because that's where Grandma lives. :)
I can dress myself now, almost. I still have trouble with shirts. I really like to help around the house. Mom even gave me my own dustpan and hand broom. I have so much fun helping! When I do a good job, I get a star on my chore chart and at the end of the week I get a dollar!
I'm getting to know the neighbors. Most of them are girls, but that's ok. They like to run and play and aren't all weird about getting mud on their hands. I know, I checked. I threw mud at one girl and she still asks me to come out and play!
Lila had her 18 month doctor visit earlier this month. She finally hit the 20 pound mark! Yay! We still call her Peanut. I have a feeling we always will call her that. Mom calls me Dude. I make sure to correct her with "I'm not Dude, I'm Dietrich James." One day, she'll get it right. Oh, Lila's doctor said she's totally healthy.
Anyway, I think I liked it better when Lila was too little to walk or talk. Now she's into everything...even MY stuff!! She just started really talking, I mean using words we can understand like Bippy (sippy), Boppa (Grandpa), Nack (snack), Daddy, Mummy (apparently she's British), puppy, Eh-yee (Elli - Grandma's Pug), No, Yep, Nigh-nigh (ni-night), and help you (she says this when she wants help). She started trying to help when Mom gets her dressed by pulling clothes over her head and putting her arms in the sleeves by herself. She walks, runs, climbs, gets stuck, screams, cries, plays, laughs, and is just generally an annoying little sister. (I love her, but don't tell anyone, ok?)
We've been to the park, the zoo, played with neighbors, gone to church, and gone to Grandma's house. Most of the time we stay home and Mom helps me with my letters and colors and numbers. I can write my name now! I wrote "DJ" on a picture I colored for Mom and she cried. Apparently that was important to her. I help Mom do laundry and keep the house clean. Lila and I watch cartoons on the days that Mom has homework to do.
It's not a bad life. I know that Mom really wants to stay at home with us, but we won't be able to afford it for long so she's still job hunting. I know it's hard on her because she cries a lot at the thought of putting us in daycare, but I think it would be good for me to play with other kids more often. We'll see what happens. Mom keeps saying that God has a plan and I believe her. We're just waiting to find out what it is.
Here are some new pictures of us:

April Fool's Day!
Hello! Today is the first day of April. (Sorry, I missed March.) March was filled with a whole lot of nothing for me. It was too cold and yucky to go anywhere, Daddy had to work, and Mommy was still job hunting. Not very many exciting things happened in March. Except for one thing:
I FINALLY got to build a SNOWMAN!
Being cute in the snow:
Throwing snowballs at Daddy:
Lila and I are growing up a lot though. I'm testing everyone and learning how much they can take before they snap. I am a big boy now and like to do everything myself. I also like to help everyone else do what they are doing. I am obsessed with Thomas the train engine, dinosaurs, and yelling.
Lila is learning lots of new words. She can point to her nose, belly, and toes. She says pretty, birt-day, ball, star, up, down, Abby (from Sesame Street), Daddy, Mama, Djuh (me), and Lila. She had her 15 month appointment in March and weighs in at a whopping 19 pounds! Just kidding...she's tiny! She's also only about 30 inches tall. I have about 10 inches, and 15 pounds on her still. :) Don't let her smallness fool you though, she's one tough cookie. She hits hard too. :( She's also in a new stage where she is learning her limits too. Temper tantrums are getting more frequent and she hears the word "no" a lot more now. I think it's great! Pretty soon, I have a feeling, we'll be adding another chair to the time-out wall. Haha!

Snow and Trains
It's already February! Where did January go??
January kind of flew by. I spent the whole month playing in the living room, watching movies and cartoons, and playing with my toys. Oh! And driving everyone CRAZY!! Hello, my name is DJ…I'm a holy terror. Nice to meet you.
I have cabin fever so bad. Mommy kept saying we would go outside to play, but she would never take me outside. I was sad every time. I thought she was just being really really mean. She explained to me that it was just too cold and since I had been sick, she didn't want me to get sicker. She promised that she would take me outside to build a snowman when it warmed up a little bit outside and my cold went away. I thought that day would never come.
Well, it did!! Last weekend, we went all the way to Great Grandma and Great Grandpa's house. On Saturday, Mommy came into the play room where I was playing with the train set and she asked me if I wanted to go outside to play. Well, let's just say that I couldn't get out of that room fast enough! I got all bundled up in my snow pants, sweater, boots, coat, mittens, and hat. Then we went outside! Sweet, glorious outside. It was cold, wet, and full of snow. It was magnificent! We walked to the very back of the back yard because the snow was a little bit lower there so I could walk in it.
Mommy showed me how to make a snowball. We tried and tried, but couldn't get the snow to stick enough to make a snowman. I was so sad. I kept asking Mommy to build a snowman. She tried to explain why we couldn't, but I just didn't understand. Then she showed me how to make a snow angel instead. That was fun! I LOVED that!! Then Mommy tried one more time to make the base for a snowman. She stepped into the snow bank, lost her footing, and fell up to her waist in the snow. Then she fell backwards while trying to get out. We both laughed so hard! She was soaked and cold, but she just laughed. We walked around to the front of the house and I made my first snowball all by myself and threw it at Mommy. I have a good arm and, as Mommy said, frighteningly good aim.
Then the coolest thing happened…Thomas the Tank Engine (what I call him) talked to me! I heard him whistle. Then another one whistled and Mommy asked me who that was. I listened really hard and heard the whistle again…It was James! We could see them through the trees between the houses. Mommy knelt down and looked with me and told me to say hi to the trains. I yelled and waved "Hi!" James whistled at me again…he heard me! I turned to Mommy and said "He said 'Hi' to me. That's special!" I couldn't stop smiling. After Thomas and James left, we heard a few more. I just know it was Percy, Edward, and Gordon. After that, I pummeled Mommy with about a hundred snow balls.
Then we had to go in. Mommy had stood outside, soaking wet and freezing her butt off (literally!) for almost 45 minutes in 36 degree weather because I was having too much fun.
We had to come back home today. As soon as we got back to the city, we had lunch with Grandma Barb and Grandpa Jim. Then we came home. It was a great weekend.
Back to another week of Mommy applying for jobs and Daddy going to work. Maga will be here and it'll be fun. I don't have any new pictures for you this time, but should be able to get some up next time. I just wanted to tell you about the trains.
Love you,

December
Happy New Year's Eve everyone!!!
I am now 3 years old, Lila is now 1 year old, we had an AMAZING Christmas, and are still spoiled rotten! Life is good. :)
In December, we had record snow falls so we ended up having to cancel our birthday party. :( Booooooo... So, we had our birthday party with the Christmas party! The kitchen was decorated for our birthdays, and the living room was decorated for Christmas. It was so much fun! Aunt Jo made our cakes. Mine was Buzz Lightyear and Woody and Lila's was a pretty pink flower. She did such an amazing job!
Here are some pictures of the snow we got!
Not much else new. I just wanted to pop in for a minute and let you know that we are doing well. Hope the New Year is great for you!!!

Changes...
Hello everyone!
It's been a VERY eventful month! Where to begin...
I'll start with Halloween. I was Buzz Lightyear! Lila ended up being a Ladybug. Mommy went to the store to get a Tinkerbell costume and they were all gone. :( So, Daddy did some digging in Lila's clothes and found a Ladybug costume in there!
A lot of things happened that made Mommy and Daddy have to make some big decisions. Mommy's last day of work is December 1st. She has a couple of possibilities for a new job, but for now, we just wait. After a lengthy discussion and finally deciding that making me get a job was out of the question, we moved into a new house. It's a nice place. I got my own room! It's so nice having my own place to sleep and not have to worry about a whiny, crying sister at 2am.
The first time I went into the new place, Daddy took me upstairs to pick out my room. I decided which room I wanted and we started moving my stuff into it. It looks really nice now.
If you don't have our new address, please send Mommy an email and she'll let you know what it is.
Another really fun thing happened...I met SANTA!!! We didn't get to see him last year because it was a 2 hour wait in line. This time, we were FIRST! I was a little shy at first and wasn't so sure of Santa. Mommy brought Lila over to Santa. Lila didn't think Santa was all that exciting. She was ok if Mommy or Maga was holding her though. We even got our picture taken!
After telling Santa what I want for Christmas, we went to the play area at the mall. I had so much fun! Maga even turned out to be a HERO! She rescued a little girl about my age who wandered off and reunited her with her Mommy.
For Thanksgiving we went to Iowa to spend time with Daddy's side of the family. I got to see Grandma Aletha and my aunts and uncles and cousin Kaydence!! I didn't get any pictures though. Mommy was slacking. We had a good time even though everyone was sick. It was nice to see everyone!!
Yesterday, Maga, Mommy, and I put up the Christmas tree. It was so much fun! I even got to put some of the ornaments on by myself. I was so proud. As soon as Daddy got home from work, I made sure to show him my Christmas tree. I also thought it would be best if I reminded Daddy that I put up the Christmas tree throughout the evening. Lila kept smiling and staring and waving at the tree all night. I think she was impressed with my creative skills.
Here are a few more random pictures:
Well, that brings us up to now. Today, I'm not feeling well. I have a fever and other ickys. I just thought I'd post this to update you before the month was out! Friday is my 3rd Birthday and Lila turns 1 on the 9th. We're going to have a small get together on the 11th, but nothing fancy. As long as there's cake...I'm happy!!!
I'll talk to you later.
Love you!

Aunt Jo went with us. She was a dark fairy complete with black wings she made herself. Can't see them really well in this picture, but they were super cool!!!
Just for fun, and to convince me to put on the costume myself, Daddy put my Buzz Lightyear costume on Lila. Personally, I think I make a better Buzz...but she gave it a good shot.
