Baby Robert: Age 4-6 months

It’s been an exciting past few months! Bert is continuing to fill our lives with joy! These past couple of months he has started sitting up by himself and babbling (mostly da-da-da-da). His personality is definitely starting to show, and we have determined he is going to be more like daddy than mommy. He is a very laid-back baby. He rarely cries or gets upset. We laugh because when we pick him up from daycare, he is always chilling in a baby lounger while it’s chaos around him, with all the other babies screaming!

Bert's "football" helmet

He is now on helmet #2, and he will be in it until January. He seems to be making good progress, so we are pleased. We had his first helmet decorated as a football field, and his new helmet has planes on it. He is STILL not sleeping through the night (much to our dismay). He goes to sleep between 7-8 pm, and wakes up around 1 am and then at 4 am, then again 5 am, after which he is pretty much awake for good. We’ve tried everything to keep him asleep: swaddling, noise machines, humidifiers, keeping him up late, giving him formula/warm bath before bed, etc. He is just not much of a sleeper, and he really doesn’t nap much at daycare either (surprisingly).  We are transitioning him to a mix of breastmilk/formula/baby food, which has been crazy. We think he may have a formula allergy, and we've gone through 5 different types so far, but we’re not really sure... He keeps getting this terrible rash. Feeding him baby food is hilarious! He makes the funniest faces when he first tastes the food – it’s a mixture of surprise and disgust!

He has begun recognizing us much better as well, and he reaches out for me at daycare when I come in the room. He whines if I don’t pick him up right away when I walk in – it’s so sweet; it melts my heart! Rob’s parents (Grandaddy and GG) came up for a visit, and we took Bert to the Texas State Fair for the first time. He also took his first road trip to Memphis for Thanksgiving, where he met his great-grandma Lynch and great uncle Brian for the first time.  We had a great time, and I loved having all my friends meet the baby. He also got to meet some of my friends’ children, who are close to his age. It’s so surreal when you are introducing your children to your best friends’ children!
