Zoey's Newborn Pictures

We had these taken by Tatti Petersen a couple days after Zoey was born. Shortly after Tatti got morning sickness and wasn't able to edit them till she got feeling better. I understand completely about morning sickness and the pics were well worth waiting for, I love them!! Thanks Tat!!






Her bedroom is done in Purple butterflies and I am going to have these printed on canvas and hang them above her little bed.








Maggie did so good. I didn't think she would be very good so I was waiting to feed Zoey till after and I wish I would have fed her before because we didn't get very many good ones because Zoey was crying. These three do look cute though.

Zoey 2 Months

We took Zoey to the Dr. yesterday for her 2 month check up. Her Dr. was shocked at the size of her cheeks. She weighed in at 10 lbs 11 oz. almost a lb less than Maggie at this age. She is in the 50 percentile in her weight and 25% in her height.

She just might take after her mamma. She has had a really bad bum rash and the Dr. said it is a yeast infection. The new medication is helping a ton.

She loves to be talked to and is full of smiles. I just love her deep blue eyes and her chubby cheeks.

My favorite thing right now are her sleepy smiles and giggles. Sometimes when I am rocking her to sleep she will get a big old grin on her face and then giggle so much she will wake herself up.

She loves her sister to play with her and talk to her. Her eyes get really big and she stares at Maggie like in amazement.

She is spitting up less since we have switched her formula, yahoo!! And is a much happier baby.

She is on a pretty constant schedule. She eats 5 oz every 4 hours in the day and 6 hours in the night. No complaints from mom.

I have enjoyed Zoey so much. I am so much more relaxed with her than I was with Maggie. She is such a joy to have in our family. Maggie loves her to bits and pieces!! I hope they will grow up to love each other as much as they seem to right now.

On another note. Maggie had a bladder infection and the Dr. wanted to check her kidneys out to make sure they are working right. She had an ultrasound Tuesday. They didn't find anything bad, so that is very good. She was sure they were going to find a baby Zoey in her belly. When I told her they weren't she was then sure they were going to find a mouse in there. I'm not sure why she thought that. Surprisingly they didn't find anything in her tummy. She was a little bummed honestly. She was very brave though during the procedure.

Our Halloween

"I'm a mean old witch with a hat". I tried to get Maggie to be Tinkerbell but she only wanted to be a scary witch. NOT just a witch but a scary witch. She loved scaring people in her costume.


This is our little pumpkin carver and her little pumpkin seed. Maggie loved to draw on her pumpkin with dry erase markers and wipe it off and draw again. Zoey did not like to be shoved into hers but its cute so oh well.

Zoey the Zebra. My aunt sent us this costume and we just love it. Zoey had tons of Halloween outfits that I was going to pick from but this is so darn cute, I'm glad she sent it.

Over all a pretty uneventful Halloween. In the morning we took a quick trip to Laramie to the Dr. Maggie has a UTI Yucky!! Then home to the trunk-or-treat at the church. Maggie liked it all except a boy was dressed as a wolf with a pretty scary mask and she was NOT ok with that. She kept asking where he was all night long. In the end the candy took her mind off it.

The BIG Hunt

Brooks hasn't deer hunted in years. This year he decided to buy an over the counter tag. (I guess you can't do that anymore in Utah only Wyoming, you have to draw out in Utah now). Anyways he picked one weekend and pulled the trailer up over night and hunted two days. I was a little nerves to be with both the girls over night by myself, but it worked out. So the next morning he ended up getting a 3 point. The guy he went with taught him a new way to quarter the deer and then they started packing it out. It took 4 hours to get back to camp. They hiked, or crawled, 1000 feet in elevation, straight up the side of the mnt. He said he was exhausted. I tried on his backpack and could barely take a step with it on. (this was AFTER the meat had been taken out). He loved it though and can't wait to go again.

Now for the dead animal.? He is in the process of jerking the meat. He is using our neighbors smoker. My fridge smells like jerky terrible. With that said. It is the best jerky I have every tasted. He has done a really good job with it and has quite a bit too. He has decided he wants to do a European mount by himself. He has been watching all kinds of U tub videos on how to do this. The biggest issue is cleaning the skull. To my knowledge there are two ways to do this, boil the dickens out of it in all kinds of chemicals for hours on hours. Or he has found these flesh eating beetles, yep you read right FLESH EATING BEETLES. He found a seller on eBay that he could purchase 500+ beetles for $40. Unfortunate it is too cold for them to live in WY during the winter. As you can guess I was really bummed about not being able to be the next great beetle farmer. BUMMER!! Brooks actually was really kinda bummed. He had all these money making ideas and was really going to be the next great beetle farmer. So now we are back to the idea of boiling. Our issue is he can't find a pot large enough. We dont have a DI so when we come to Utah he will be on the lookout for a large pot at the DI. Oh how fun this adventure has been for him. Lucky for me he has done most of this adventure outside. He can't wait to go next year and said it is "back in his blood now".

Zoey weighed 8 lbs on her 1 month Birthday. I only took her to the health department because our pediatrician is an hour and a half away. Maggie and I also got flue shots while we were there. It was my first flue shot, but after getting the influenza a last year, it was worth the shot. Maggie was so brave and even wanted to go first.


Zoey has so many Halloween outfits, I just love them. Right after I took this picture she pooped all over and stained her cute little white ghost outfit. Little stinker.


Miss Maggie just loves her little sister. She can't bare to be away from her for too long. Even when Zoey is napping it is too long. I took Zoey to YW's with me this week and when I walked in the house, Maggie ran to Zoey and asked her all about YW's.


Grandma Nessen brought this cute outfit to the hospital when Zoey was born. I think it's so cute. I also bought this shirt for Maggie to wear to the hospital. It says "Best Sister Ever". How perfect that they match. I love these two girls so so much. They are super fun and I can't wait for Zoey to get bigger so they can play. (neither can Maggie).

I think I can, I think I can

My mom left early Saturday morning. Brooks also chose to go deer hunting that day, so I was left alone with the girls for the first time. I SURVIVED. I was super nervous about this day but we made it through. My mom was such a huge help and I miss her so much already. I wish so badly that we lived close to home.

Zoey is adjusting well to life. She eats about every 4-6 hours. She is very noisy when she sleeps and I can't wait to put her in her own room. (We are using that room for our mom's to come and help, and the help is well worth it) At her 2 week appointment she weighed 7 lbs 1 oz. Yahoo more than birth weight!! It shows how good of an eater she is. Other than that basic newborn stuff.



Maggie still loves her sister a ton. She wants to include her in everything she does. I love this picture but can't figure out how to rotate it, ugh. Maggie reading to her sister, how sweet.

We are so excited to have Baby Zeoy here. Maggie has just loved her. Everything went really really well in the hospital but we were happy to get home too. We stayed a week at Grandma's house till I was released to travel back home. We are now at home with our Daddy and so happy to be here. Grandma is going to stay a week with us to make sure we are well adjusted. The next week Grandma Nessen will come stay for a couple days. We have been very well taken care of and have loved every second of it.


This is the night before we headed to the hospital. So glad we are done with that stage!!

What has kept us busy this Summer

We have done a bunch of camping with friends this summer. It has been a blast. The kids love it too. Sometimes we camp in the woods and sometimes we camp at the lake. Either way we have had lots of fun and lets not forget lots of yummy food too.


Maggie swims in the backyard every day that we stay home. Sometimes we have friends over sometimes she just plays with cups and bowls and the hose. She lives in her swim suit. I told her she was going to turn into a fish and she looked at me very concerned and said "I don't want to be a fish I only want to be a Maggie".



The circus came to town and we couldn't pass that up!! It was a lot of fun and Maggie was mesmerized. Brooks was trying to meet us after and ride the elephant with her but he didn't make it in time before they said last ride. So we pushed and pulled my Prego butt onto the dumb elephant. Not my favorite pregnancy activity.


Camping at the lake. Maggie could dig in the sand for days.


More camping in the woods. She loves her little 4-wheeler. She is just too brave on it sometimes. She has no fear.....like her Daddy.

Sunday Events

I am 33 weeks today. My sisters keep asking for pics so here I am!! Maggie is also sporting her 1st day in pig tails. SUPER cute!!

So at church today Maggie's best friend was sitting 5 rows in front of us. There was only 1 person sitting on any of those 5 benches, the bishops wife. They found each other under the benches. Soon enough they were tossing their treats to each other and crawling back and forth to share them. Then they started talking to each other, under the benches. I was cracking up so bad I was crying. They were super disruptive but I was laughing too hard to stop them. The worst part was our friend was there without her hubby to help with her 2 year old and 8 month old. So I was laughing too hard to help and she had her hands too full. I didn't let this go on for very long but when it was, I found it funny. They are just such best friends and wanted to share so much, too cute I think. After I apologized to the bishop's wife and she said she saw the humor in it too.

Also Maggie went to Nursery ALL BY HERSELF!! She has been struggling with separation anxiety for the past couple months and nursery has been a huge struggle. Thanks to great nursery leaders and her friends she made the leap today and went by herself. Ok the bribe of ice cream probably helped too!! I was so proud of her and hope the trend keeps up!!

Taking one for the team

Brooks has been playing on a city league baseball team this summer. I was put on the roster at the beginning of the season in case I needed to fill in. Well that unfortunate situation came up yesterday. They have to have equal parts boys and girls and they were down one girl. So I "played". Maggie freaked out in the dugout by herself so I ended up only being outfield 1/2 an inning. I batted 4 times, hitting 3 times and NOT making it to first once. (it's a really long run being 6 1/2 months prego.) Anyways we ended up winning the game...the 1st win of the season!! I can't say I helped any but I did make it so they didn't forfeit. They had a double header but luckily I didn't have to play game 2. By the time we got home I could barely walk. Brooks had to help me in and out of the tub. Apparently I'm not conditioned for baseball season. I will be watching from the stands from here on out!! No more taking one for the team!!

The Yard

Daddy and Maggie Digging trenches for the sprinkler system. Maggie was such a helper. She liked to fill in more than dig out the trenches. Brooks was very patient.


She also helped plant flowers in the flower beds. I bought her this cute little planting wagon so she could be just like Daddy. She loves it.


The front yard with lawn and trees. Brooks is super proud of his work. I couldn't be happier with it either. We love our finished yard.


We didn't do much more than borders and lawn in the back yard but we love it too. It makes it look so much bigger. Not to mention cleaner.

Our little ray of sunshine standing by my new potted plant. I hope it (and all the planted plants) live. The wind has been crazy and is beating them down. I will be super bummed if they all die but hey at least I gave it a try.

pronunciation

Maggie has had this pronunciation problem ever since she could talk. Not on all words just one in particular. The bad thing is she uses it all the time. The word she is trying to say is WheeLer. How she says it is WheeNer. She tells lots of people how fast her Daddy's WheeNer is and how her and her Daddy race their WheeNers. Brooks gets super embarrassed. Well Sunday was the worst of it. She has this little light up drawing pad and she loves us to draw different things on it. Sunday in her "Munns voice" she said "Daddy draw your WheeNer." Ugh!! She wouldn't stop saying it either. It came out like three times. My Young Women President and her Daughters were THREE rows back and just rolling. I explained the mispronunciation after, they were still laughing. I'm not sure what anyone else was thinking or is still thinking. I have tried to work with her on it but she just doesn't get it. Oh well it will be funny to look back on when she gets older. Then she will be as embarrassed as her dad is now.

Easter

Easter Egg hunt at the school by our house with our neighbors. It was freezing!! We did an adult hunt too and Brooks found the golden egg with $20 in it Yahoo!!


The Easter Bunny brought Maggie new Jammies, a camera, and a bike helmet. She was stoked. He also hid eggs all over our house. She loved finding them.


We had a little egg decorating with some of our friends. Instead of dying we coated plastic eggs with modge podge and let them roll them in confetti. Maggie liked it more than anyone else. She easily did a dozen by herself. They turned out pretty cute I think. They can't be opened after so they are just fun eggs, but I thought it was better than dye any day.


One of the Moms brought Easter Cupcakes to enjoy after too. So much fun!!
