Fishing with Dad

The first Saturday in September we needed to take a break from all projects at home and got out to enjoy some sunshine! We packed up the kids fishing gear and headed up Provo Canyon. This is a fun park where kids can "catch and release" for free. We didn't catch a single thing, but we sure tried!!! The kids loved going up to Heber afterwards to eat at their favorite - "The Train Place"!!! Ü

Yippee!!! Time to get that stinky, itchy, dirty thing off! I will miss being able to spot her from a mile away, though!!!

Catching Up - Future Cheerleader?

Mahlia was asked by our cute neighbor to participate in a tiny tigers cheer camp. They had 3 dance classes and then they performed during half-time at a friday night football game. Mahlia couldn't have been more excited to learn a new dance and shake her booty at Mom's alma-mater. (Mom was pretty excited too!) So, here is my little drama queen shaking her stuff at OHS.
This is a piece of the old gym floor. They are rebuilding the school, so it was fun to see a piece of "history" (seriously? history? I can't be THAT old). Ü

Halloween 2009

My bride, warlock and puppy. So cute!!!

Jackson made the cutest little puppy! He loved to run around and "yap" at everyone!! He's just adorable if I do say so myself! Ü

I'm not one for scary costumes, but Joseph was a warlock for his 2nd grade Halloween program at school - thus, he was a warlock for the week!

Mahlia told me that she wanted to be a bride for Halloween oh, about August. (I think it had a lot to do with this experience) I thought, "great! that should be easy enough!" Well, it wasn't! I allowed it to cause me a GREAT deal of stress and even locked my neck up so bad I couldn't move my head! It was crazy trying to find a white dress for a 3 year old!! Needless to say, the DAY OF the primary halloween party, we found this beautiful dress on 60% clearance and Cinderella's closet. It was perfect! We had a very happy bride!

Summer 2009

We had a hard time about mid-summer with the kids getting along. So, we came up with the idea that they could build a snowcone by making good choices! Everytime we took the kids for a snowcone they wanted big ones. And I mean, this place made BIG ones! So, we decided to let the kids earn a big snowcome... and you can see they did it!!! These are some seriously happy faces!!!

One evening we decided to drive up to Gardner Village and walk around. We LOVE that place and got some cute pics!

This is how the kids drive in the van. (when they aren't fighting) I love it! And I love their messy faces from getting treats and the candy store!

Mahlia's Broken Arm

Here is Mahlia when we got to the surgical center. 5 days prior to this picture Mahlia was outside playing on the swings with Joseph and Jackson. We're not 100% sure what happened, but according to Joseph Mahlia was trying to climb into Jackson's babyswing and slipped and fell. She must have fallen just right to break one bone and buckle the second bone in her arm. Poor thing - I don't know who was more scared - Joseph, Mahlia or me!!! It was so silly because I didn't think much of it when she came in. She, of course, was screaming - but that's kind of how Mahlia is - a bit dramatic when she cries (I have NO idea where she inherited that - must be John's side of the family!) . Then I looked at her arm and I knew it didn't look right. I couldn't get ahold of John. I didn't know what to do! Luckily after a few minutes John came home for lunch and my kind neighbor of 3 weeks took Joseph and Jackson while John and I took Mahlia to the hospital. 3 Dr's visits later we learned they would have to set both bones. They did it on the following Monday in the surgical center.

Here is Mahlia happy as only Mahlia can be at 7:00 a.m. on a Monday morning at a surgical center! You can see why everyone there was absolutely ADORING her!!! She was pretty spoiled by all the nurses. Ü She is holding her pink "good luck" puppy that Joseph gave her and her "Little Miss Sunshine" from Uncle Wade. Very thoughtful! The Dr. even let her take them into surgery with her!! All gowned up!

We had a VERY long wait. Luckily they had a little playroom for us!

Mahlia was AMAZING through this whole ordeal. She hardly took any medicine - Grandma even bought her a very special pink (tylenol) treat that is made only for little girls who break their arms - the only time we could get her to take it was at bedtime. I think she had a total of 3 or 4 doses of medicine throughout the monthlong ordeal. It was crazy!!! She must have a very strong pain tolerance or something.

Well, that was another box checked off on the "list of firsts every mom goes through"! I survived my first broken arm!

Second Birthday, Second Grade and A Broken Arm

Jackson's birthday! Don't you love how we are all "helping" him blow out his candles! hahaha!!! Pirate Island had their pre-grand opening so we decided to give it a try! Here is everyone making their best pirate face! Mahlia does not believe in mean pirates - only nice ones!

Mahlia has been AMAZING with her broken arm! She hasn't complained at all about the pain! It's incredible. She has been such a trooper. This is in the orthopedic surgeon's office.
