Christmas

We had a really great Christmas this year. Even though Connor had no idea what was going on, Christmas was so much more special just because he's with us. We only had an hour and a half drive this year as opposed to the usual 14 or 16 hour drive from Idaho to one of our parent's houses. We spent Christmas with my side of the family in San Diego doing very California things. On Christmas Eve we went on a hike overlooking the beach, played basketball outside at my parent's house, and the day after Christmas we walked the boardwalk at Coronado (we were going to rent bikes at the boardwalk, but they were all out). Besides that we did all the usual McBeth family traditions: extended family dinner on the 23rd, celebrated mom's birthday on Christmas Eve eve, opened a present of jammies on Christmas Eve, watched movies, played games, ate cinnamon rolls Christmas morning, etc etc. All-in-all it was a great Christmas weekend. The only thing missing was Ryan, Rachel and the boys. Ryan is doing his medical Residency in NY and sadly couldn't get away for the holidays. We missed you all tremendously and I know I at least thought about you during every activity, wishing you were there!!

Christmas morning: Ty wouldn't wake up, so we put Connor in the crib with him. When he finally noticed and woke up he tried to snuggle up to Connor and almost squished him. So cute.

My parents..I mean Santa gave him a Jumperoo and he has spent hours in it since. He absolutely loves it and we've loved watching him.

Opening presents is apparently exhausting

Tanner and all his nephews had matching Christmas church outfits. Too bad we couldn't get all the boys in one picture, but we'll put this picture side-by-side with Liam and Gavin's and pretend

Got to see some of my bff's from high school at church. We all have boys now!

Family Pictures

We were lucky enough recently to have TWO family photoshoots which, with a baby, is definitely the way to go. Babies have many moods, so it was nice to capture a bit of all of them on different days. Our good friend Brittany took some great photos of us at our park, and my brother took some of us at his park. We got some really super keepsake photos of our family and especially of Connor. I'll share a few with you all:

There were so many awesome ones of the many faces of Connor, but I can't post them all! Thanks Brandon and Brittany!!!

**Pictures to come soon of Connor's first haircut. Worst mistake we've made yet! His hair was one thing that just made Connor CONNOR, but he was slowly losing it and looking more and more like an unfortunate old man every day, so we took nature into our own hands...and almost cried. (And I always said I wouldn't be one of those moms who made a big deal about cutting their baby's hair)

4 Months

Connor is 4 months old on Sunday and had his 4 month checkup yesterday. Sometimes I feel like time flies and I can't believe he is already 4 months old...other times I feel like I can't believe he's been a part of our family for ONLY 4 months. Also, sometimes I think that nothing I did before having him was important at all, because what is more important than being a Mother and spending your days raising your child?? On the other hand, some days I lay down in bed at night and think to myself "What did I get done today? Anything??" Ohh the dichotomies of parenthood.

Connor had his second round of shots yesterday and I hate them! Both times he's had shots he has seemed perfectly fine afterwards and then all of a sudden, like 4 hours later, the crying starts. Cries ranging from screams of pain to weak and pathetic weeping that tears at my heartstrings. I can't handle watching my baby cry, knowing he's in pain, and not being able to do anything about it. Thats where Tylenol comes in. The sweet bliss of drugs that lull my puffy faced little one to sleep. To quote my grandpa "Better living by pharmaceuticals".

A couple weeks ago Connor had one of those Milestone days where a light seemed to switch on and he suddenly was more aware and capable. They may seem like little things, but it was so exciting. He started using his legs to stand and push against things and I was amazed at how strong he is. I made noises with my mouth while he was sitting in my lap and he immediately looked for the noise, lifted his head up and found my face, looking me right in the eyes. He reached for the toys on the bouncer mobile and played with them, discovering that they make noise. He got up on his knees and forearms and held it for several seconds...he's just becoming so much more aware and communicative.

Connor's quirks and fun-facts: he has been sleeping 8-10 hours through the night for about a month (knock on wood), he doesn't take a bottle or a pacifier ever, under any circumstances, he is a mama's boy (although he loves Daddy to pieces), he hates being put in his carseat and cries and cries til we start driving, he knows when we are stuck at a red light and cries until we move again, he konks immediately in the stroller and a moving car, he is a tummy sleeper all the way, he hates being confined or swaddled, he is often a loud eater, sleeper, and breather.

Things we love about Connor: he is very entertained by watching the ceiling fan spin around and around, whenever he tries to laugh he gets the hiccups, he wakes up in the morning with huge grins that spread gyrations through his whole body, he stops eating the second he hears Daddy's voice, loves to suck on his fists, gets glued to the tv when we face him toward the screen, stares at pictures and decor on the walls, he's developing a sense of humor, he smiles and laughs at funny faces and noises we make, how his chubby belly hangs over his diaper and out of his shirt, when he smiles or sucks in his sleep, his long dark eyelashes, the rolls and cellulite on his legs, he is still a sweet, serene, happy baby with a ready smile for anyone who smiles at him.
