This Christmas we enjoyed a few of our favorite things.....that can't be found in Alaska!
Wesley's first "city transportation" - taking the metro downtown seattle to the space needle.


To see Annie's good friend Z! We made the most of our 7 hour layover.... and, the restuarant put the hockey game on the huge screen for us....entertainment while Annie and Z caught up. :) And then....on to Florida....

Florida has a professional hockey team, so, after a day at the beach .... off to the rink!


And, of course a trip to Disneyworld....Felix's mom came along with us for the 3 day whirlwind...
Of note: Wesley "shuffled", read "running man" if you're from the 80s, the entire trip. So, in South Beach I found him this oh so fitting shirt. It says, "every day I'm shufflin' "
Epcot is "educational"...we learned about fancy cars on this ride.
And, more animals....Disney's Animal Kingdom

And, of course - the beach. This was Christmas day, actually. :) Amazing beach....Annie came home with 3 pounds of shells. :)


The everglades were nearby.... we went on a jet-boat safari tour...and, we did see an alligator in the wild! And, at the end of the tour, the "gator boy" wrestled live alligators!






Miami Seaquarium complete with dancing killer whales, dolphins, manatees, etc, etc....

A stop by a go-carting place....because no, Alaska doesn't have one anymore! We used to....but our church meets there now. :)

Downtown Miami, with art deco, a night out in South Beach with a "concert" at the restaurant by the former Gypsy Kings lead.
And a day of cultural heritage for Wesley in Little Havana....wait, that's Cuban....well, he heard a lot of Spanish, and some things are very similar between Cuba and Puerto Rico. :)

A domino park - with tables set to play dominos....quite traditional in CubaA cuatro...he's starting with the guitar - maybe he'll learn to play this one day! :)


And, we did our fair share of relaxing at home. This is Wesley with his 2 cousins.

Hope you had a nice Christmas! We're all back to our routines now -- which, for Annie is staying home and studying, which below 0 temperatures makes a bit easier. Felix and Wesley are back to hockey, and there's actually enough snow in Kodiak for Wesley to snowboard a bit. Felix is in Kodiak this weekend, he and Wesley have a full day of hockey, driving up to Pillar mountain to check out the snow, I imagine a movie tonight....throw in a stop by Subway and that's their weekend routine. That leaves Annie and Luna in Anchorage, with lots of studying, preparing for a busy week, another cup of coffee to be brewed, and maybe a ski if it gets warm enough.

For those of you who don't know, Annie is studying to be a Family Nurse Practitioner. I've cut back on my hours at ANMC to make time for clinical hours. This and last semester are Women's health (with a Nurse Midwife) and Pediatrics (with a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner). Along with that, this semester I'm taking Pharmacology. My graduation date is May 2013 - before then, I have 2 more clinical semesters in Family Medicine, and a thesis to write! My thesis will probably be something about Health Literacy....the topic is still in the works...
