merry christmas

merry christmas! i know it is a few days late... but merry christmas! being in sunny 80 degree weather doesn't really feel like christmas, but it sure was nice to be home with the family. christmas eve we did our traditional christmas program where my dad reads the christmas story from luke and we sing some songs. we always go on a drive to look at christmas lights and elves bring us pajamas while we are out. since indonesia is a muslim country there weren't any lights to go see. so instead we took our dog max on a walk to see the house a few streets away that had some lights in a tree. my dad was trying to convince us that the elves didn't come, but sure enough, they did! we got in our jammies and watched a christmas movie. my dad wanted us to sleep in christmas morning and i was very excited about that... but then i woke up at 6! it was so gross. the whole family wasn't up until about 9, and then we got to see if santa came! i was so surprised he found me all the way in jakarta. i got a new camera, some cds, a hot chocolate maker, and a blanket. it was a success! we spent the day playing games and watching movies as a family. since i am still having jet lag issues i was asleep by about 9, but it was a great day. i didn't get to spend christmas with my family last year so it was great to be with them. merry christmas!!

i made it to jakarta

well, i made it to jakarta and what a trip it was! i flew to l.a. and had a layover in the worst airport in the world. the international terminal at the l.a. airport is like the airport in a third world country. it was unfinished and gross. but then things picked up. i slept for ten hours of my fifteen hour flight to hong kong. can we say amazing!!!! sarah and i flew on cathay pacific which is my new favorite airlines. you have your own tv with 100 movies, 250 tv shows, cds, games, and so much more. i loved it. sarah and i went to burger king in hong kong and then were on our way to jakarta. this is the best part. so an indonesian man met us at our gate to help us get our visas and get through passport control. so we pay for the visas and then go to get the visa sticker put in. well, lets just say that my passport was full so they wouldn't put in my visa! there were a few blank pages at the back, but they are for passport amendments and not visas. the man who was helping us took away my passport and sarah and i just start laughing. they are telling us they will have to deport me because they can't put in the visa! our helper finally comes back and says if i pay the supervisor $50 they will put in the visa and let me through. since this is the only option i do it. my parents thought it was a little less funny then me, but i loved it!
now i have just been relaxing and hanging out with the sibs. we have a pool so i have been swimming and just playing games. it is so nice to not be at work right now! i love it. jakarta is an interesting place, but i like being here with my family!

jakarta or bust

it is christmas time! today i will start my looooong journey to jakarta, indonesia to visit my family! i am soooo excited! i have been preparing for this trip for months and i am so excited for it to finally be here. i have spent countless hours shopping for things for my family and spent way too much money. tonight my flight leaves salt lake at 7.30 and i stop over in los angeles and then hong kong! i will spend 22.5 hours in the air and from the time my plane takes off in salt lake to the time it will land in jakarta will be 29 hours. gross. and to make it even more fun i have to hand carry a cowboy hat and a wii. so i am not excited about the actual trip but i can't wait to get home. i didn't get to spend last christmas with my family so it will be wonderful to be with them. hope everyone has an amazing christmas!

twilight

so i caved and finally saw twilight. hmm... i don't think i want to see that movie again. friday night i ran into some friends in the parking lot and they asked me if i wanted to go to red robin with them. so i did. as we were at dinner we thought about going to see high school musical 3, which i really wanted to see! but we had missed the last showing so we decided to see twilight. my two friends had already seen it twice and were so excited to see it. i just didn't really get the whole thing and thought it was dumb. i don't know if any other girls feel this way, but i did! i loved the line "son, remember who you are." can we tell a momron wrote the books?! they assured me that if i saw it again i would like it more. but i don't think i want to waste my time. i did have a lot of fun in the movie. my friends have loud laughs and place them at the best times! we sure did enjoy making fun of the movie. so as we were leaving the theater my friends were talking about how it gets better every time they see it and these two girls walking in front of us told us that one had seen the movie seven times and the other six times. seriously girls!? do we not have better things to do with our time? now hsm3, that will be a great movie. i plan on seeing that tuesday and am quite excited.

happy birthday

on sunday i turned 23! it was such a busy and good day. i got to go to church meetings, i was called as second counselor in the relief society presidency, went to church, had a relief society meeting, break the fast, ward choir, the christmas devotional, and practicing a song i will sing in church on sunday. it was just nonstop! my wonderful aunt and cousin came to visit me and brought me some presents. it is always nice to have a gift to open on your birthday! that night i went to a friends house to watch the christmas devotional and when it was over a bunch of people from my ward came over for a little party. then i went over to some guys house in my ward and played games. a bunch of people in my ward have told me what a great year 23 was for them so i am hoping that a good day is the start to a good year!

my first blog posting

i have a blog! i actually started a blog about a year ago and could never figure out how to make it cute, but now thanks to some help from my wonderful cousin anne i have a cute blog! i know it isn't the new year yet, but have a made a resolution to do better with writing in my journal and i figure blogging is a great way to help with with that. i hope you enjoy reading about the little things that make my life great!
