Over Christmas break we all thought it would be fun to go camping, so we packed up our gear on sleds and skied to a spot about a 1/2 mile from the Glen Alps trail head. The wind had built up a small bowl into a nicely steep cornice. Perfect for climbing up and sliding down (no sled needed) We got there after dark and set up camp, the temp was about 15 degrees F and the sky clear with a nice bright moon! We played and played and then ate and went to sleep. The overnight low was around 8 degrees F, the water in my bottle was only slightly frozen inside the tent.
When we got up the next morning I asked the kids how they slept, they enthusiastically yelled ...."Great!!"
The moon was just setting behind Mt. Foraker, Hunter, and Denali, bathed in the pink light of Alpenglow.
