Happy Birthday Tess! (the penguin)

Our local zoo has the oldest African Black-Footed Penguin in captivity. We got to help her celebrate her 38th birthday!

She’s the one on the far left.

We sang “Happy Birthday” to her and had some birthday cake.

And then we explored the zoo. These birds are SUPER territorial and will go after the babies of neighboring flocks to keep them away. So mean!

The zoo had some penguin crafts.

In the Education Center, the zookeeper had an armadillo. It was pretty cool to see one so close. It had tiny feet “pitter-pattered” across the floor.

The Education Center also has a “Little Critters Clinic.” Lily was having a great time helping all the sick animals.

“Nurse, I’m gonna need your assistance in here!”

The Riverwalk and Car Show and First Friday Art Walk

We happened to be driving through town when we noticed something going on at the Riverwalk. Apparently we had stumbled on the opening weekend for the summer for the riverboats and the First Friday Art Walk. This weekend they also had a car show. Matt was loving looking at all the cars.

The Cars

Can you see the car on the other side of the red car? Yes, that’s a regular car. There were “regular cars” in between all the restored old cars. I wish they would’ve blocked off at least a portion of the parking lot for just restored cars. It would’ve made for a much better picture. oh well.

Wild West Festival

We got to the festival right in time to grab some food and sit down for the show. It was a very silly show with a sheriff, his deputy, and some bad guys, of course.

It was raining pretty good so we decided to call it quits for the festival. But not before making a quick stop at Big Lots to ride the car. She hasn’t figured it out yet that these things will do more if you actually put money in. Shhh…
