Happy Father's Day Pa!

I wanted to do a tribute to my SWEET Pa for Father's Day! I feel so blessed to have him as my Pa. He is a hard working man who always put himself last to provide the best for his family. I remember as a kid, me and my brothers would wait in the kitchen with mom for him to come home from a long day at work and when he would walk through the door, we would all three tackle him with hugs. He always brought home pink bubble gum for us and we loved getting it out of his shirt pockets! Then he would let us unlace his boots and take them off for him. Kids are easily entertained! ha! I am thankful to him for the lessons he taught me, some of them hard learned, and the example he is to me and my husband. The stance he takes for the truth and God's word are the most important thing he could ever teach me. He always encouraged me to do the best that I could do, not be ashamed to do the right thing, to be myself, and to not take a risk if I didn't have to. He is the voice in my head and I am thankful for the advice he gives me and the wisdom he has about so much. I will never forget how hard it was to convince my parents that I needed my own car, but when I asked for a pistol, my wish was quickly granted! His love for the outdoors, hunting, fishing, camping, hiking, target practicing, riding horses, and working cattle are all things I enjoy too. I love the jokes he comes up with just to make me laugh! I always wanted a sister while growing up and I never got one. But now that I am older, I have to say that it is nice being my Pa's favorite daughter! So here's a shout out to my Pa for being the best Pa to a thankful family! I love you more than words can say and I appreciate you more and more every day. I love and miss you so much!

The Guest Room is ready... Y'all come!

Well, today I finally finished the decor in our guest room. I had been gathering things I knew I wanted in there and they were starting to pile up. The hard part of decorating for me is deciding exactly what I want and where I want it. Once I get started, the cluttering begins and it is hard to stop! Ha! Well, as you all know, I am a sentimental collector, or pack rat as some have referred! I have many trinkets that I am very fond of. Most of which have been given to me or that I have picked up along my travels. So here is the finished product of our guest room. This is where you will stay if you come visit me! hint hint...ahem...

This is my BELOVED coo coo clock I picked up on my trip to Switzerland. I have never hung it up and am so excited to have a place for it. It's craftsmanship struggles, but it brings me much joy in remembering my trip with my sweet Grandma Bonnie.

I found this shelf last weekend at a garage sale for $4 dollars!!! In the top left shelf is a salt and pepper shaker with plate that Tim's mom gave me. The top right is a castle magnet from Neuschwanstein Castle in Bavaria Germany and a glass boot shot glass also from Germany. Middle left is a bell, a boot key chain and a collector spoon from Switzerland. Middle left is a house salt/pepper shaker that belonged to my mom's grandma, a wooden tree from Muire Woods Natl. Forest from our honeymoon, and a wooden Indian my sweep Pa carved for me! I have to say the Indian is my favorite thing on this shelf!!! Bottom left is a wooden doll from our honeymoon in SF and a doily from Italy. Bottom right is a tea set from my Aunt Becky.


This is the nightstand. So, I rarely get rid of things. The two frames are from dorm life, the flower box is from roommate days with Linz, the doily is one my mom stitched the flowers on, and the lamp is a recent bargain from my favorite store TJMax.



This frame is one Brenda Empey made for me. Mom picked the 'W' up somewhere for us, and the metal wall vase is from a garage sale. Dried roses included!

This is brand new bedding. The comforter is from our wedding that we have never used and the duvet cover is a recent bargain from Target. I paid $35 dollars for it and it was originally over $100! That is why we are just now using the comforter because duvet covers are ridiculously overpriced! The tulips I have had for a while too.

The orchids are fake and from a recent garage sale. I just love a bargain! See previous post about the free pitcher and bowl. The shelf is one my grandpa Al made a long time ago. The tiny tea set is from mom a long time ago. You might have to click on this pic to see the smaller things. The spoon on the left is one my pa made me for Christmas a long long time ago! Back when I had my tiny play kitchen. (: The bell is from Tillamook, OR. The frame is a Thomas Kinkade mom got me for my dorm.

Oh yeah, I had to show you this hurricane vase I picked up last weekend at a garage sale for $2 dollars! It has one chip on the base of it but is in good condition otherwise. These things are over $20 dollars in the store! I know, I know, like I needed another vase, but I couldn't pass it up! The rocks are from my wedding.....(:
