Orthos Logos (orthos logos, recta ratio): rechte, das Richtige treffende, sittliche Vernunft (bei HERAKLIT: alęthęs logos. vgl. HEINZE, Lehre vom Logos S. 75). ARISTOTELES versteht unter orthos logos die das Sittliche (s. d.) treffende Vernunft (Eth. Nic. VI 13, 1144b 23. 1103b 32 squ.. 1114b 29, u. ö.). Die Stoiker verstehen darunter den ŧeingeborenen, sittlichen TactŦ (L. STEIN, Psychol. d. Stoa II, 264). Dieser orthos Logos ist zugleich Kriterium der Wahrheit (s. d.) und Weltgesetz. CICERO erklärt: ŧRecta ratio - quae cum sit lex, lege quoque consociati homines cum diis putandi sumusŦ (De leg. I, 7, I, 2).
