STACEM (Student Academic Environmental Monitoring) is a 3U CubeSat built, tested and operated by the Space Dynamics Laboratory / Utah State University Research Foundation.
The mission is to conduct a space-borne optical experiment to collect imagery, both visible and near infrared and hyperspectral, of earth scenes for environmental analysis and monitoring.
The launch was sponsored by the NRO. The satellite was to be launched on the maiden flight of the Super-Strypi rocket from Hawaii into a 415 km × 490 km polar orbit, but was lost in a launch failure.
