Affiliate disclosure. One tool below, SE Ranking, uses an affiliate link. If you start a trial or subscribe through it, I may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. The free tools come first because they are enough for most local businesses.

Google itself says local results are based on relevance, distance, and prominence, and that you cannot pay for a better local ranking. The full breakdown is in the guide on local SEO you can do yourself. This page is about the tools that are specifically for local. For the general free tools every site needs, Search Console, Analytics, PageSpeed, see the free SEO tools roundup; here we stay on what is unique to ranking in a place.

Google Business Profile: the tool that decides local

The single most important local tool is your own Google Business Profile, and it is free. It is the thing the map pack is built from, so it is where local visibility is won or lost. Its built-in Performance view is a real analytics tool in its own right: it shows how people found you, how many called, asked for directions, or clicked through to your site, and which searches surfaced you. No paid tool has better data on your own profile than Google's own dashboard. Claim it, complete every field, and read the Performance view monthly the way you would read Search Console.

Checking your local rank: by hand, then by grid

Local rank is not one number. The same search looks different a few kilometres away, so a single "where do I rank" check is misleading. There are two ways to see the truth.

By hand, for free. Search your main terms in an incognito window from the area you serve and look at the actual map pack your customers see. Crude, but honest, and free for a single location.

By grid, with a tool. Once you serve more than one area, checking by hand stops scaling. Geo-grid rank tracking shows your position for a keyword across a map of points around your location, so you can see exactly where you are strong and where a rival owns the pack. This is the local-specific job worth paying for. If those areas are separate operating branches, set up the profiles, pages, owners, review links, and location IDs with the multi-location local SEO guide before adding another reporting layer.

The tool I use for this is SE Ranking, because it tracks the same keyword from different locations and devices and keeps the history, which is the local job done for you instead of by hand. Its 14-day trial is long enough to set it on your own city and see your real map-pack position before paying. For the full picture of what it does and does not do well, read the complete SE Ranking review. If Semrush is also on the shortlist, the direct SE Ranking versus Semrush comparison separates the local tracking job from the broader suite features.

NAP and citations: consistency, not packages

NAP means your name, address, and phone, and the only thing that matters is that they are identical everywhere your business appears. You do not need a tool for this; you need a simple sheet listing where you are listed and a habit of keeping them matched. Skip the bulk "citation building" packages that submit you to hundreds of directories. A handful of major listings genuinely count, and you can claim those yourself for free; the rest add nothing but a bill.

Reviews: the local factor you can actually move

Reviews feed the prominence signal and are the first thing a searcher sees in the pack, so they drive both rank and clicks. The "tool" here is mostly a process, not software: ask every happy customer at the moment they are happy, with a direct link to your review form, and reply to every review, good and bad. A steady trickle of genuine reviews beats a sudden burst, and never buy fake ones; it breaks Google's guidelines and can get a profile suspended.

When a complaint lands, the useful tool is a documented incident path. Follow the negative Google review response guide for Philippine businesses to protect personal data, choose an appropriate public reply, and report only content that fits a real Google policy category.

For the recurring work, build the review management workflow before buying another dashboard. Google provides the request link, QR code, notifications, profile roles, and reply surface; a small business mainly needs consistent ownership and a minimal log.

What to skip

One thing to refuse outright: any tool or service promising guaranteed map-pack rankings. Google has stated plainly that no such thing exists. A tool can show you where you rank and what to fix; it cannot buy you a position, and anything claiming to is selling fiction.

The bottom line

For local SEO in the Philippines, the tools that matter are mostly free and mostly Google's own: your Business Profile and its Performance view, a by-hand Maps check, and the discipline of consistent NAP and steady reviews. The one paid job worth it is seeing your rank across a whole area rather than a single point, which is where geo-grid tracking in a tool like SE Ranking earns its keep, and the trial lets you prove it on your own city first. For everything that is not local-specific, the free SEO tools roundup covers it.

Want someone to handle the local side instead? That is the dedicated local SEO service for Philippine small business: profile, citations, reviews, and local pages, remote-first, no ranking promises. Or start with the fixed-price SEO audit to see exactly where your local setup stands. Get in touch to begin.

See your map-pack rank across the areas you serve. SE Ranking gives a 14-day trial with no card. Add your local keywords and test location-based tracking before paying.

Start the 14-day free trial →

What Is SARIF and How Does It Help Security Tools Work Together?

Hello, I'm Ganesh. I'm building git-lrc, an AI code reviewer that runs on every commit. It is free, unlimited, and source-available on Github. Star git-lrc on GitHub to help more developers discover the project. Do give it a try and share your feedback for improving the product.

If you've ever worked with tools like Semgrep, Trivy, Checkov, Gitleaks, or CodeQL, you've probably noticed that each tool produces results in a different format. Some output JSON, some use XML, while others generate plain text reports.

This creates a problem: how do you aggregate multiple tools results from multiple tools into a single platform?

That's where SARIF comes in.

  What is SARIF?

SARIF stands for Static Analysis Results Interchange Format.

It is an open standard designed to represent findings from static analysis tools, security scanners, linters, and code quality tools in a common format.

Think of SARIF as a universal translator.

Instead of every tool speaking its own language:

Semgrep -> Semgrep JSON
Trivy -> Trivy JSON
Checkov -> Checkov JSON
Gitleaks -> Gitleaks JSON

SARIF allows all of them to communicate using a shared structure:

Semgrep
Trivy
Checkov
Gitleaks
    ↓
   SARIF

  Why Was SARIF Created?

Imagine a company running 20 different scanners in its CI/CD pipeline.

Each scanner reports:

Different severity levels

Different file formats

Different metadata

Different output structures

Different CVE

Different CVSS scores

Building integrations for every tool becomes difficult and expensive.

SARIF solves this problem by providing a standardized schema for:

Rule IDs

Messages

Severity

File locations

Code snippets

Security metadata

Fix suggestions

This allows platforms to consume results from many tools without writing custom integrations for each one.

  A Simple Example

Suppose a security scanner finds a vulnerability:

File: app.py
Line: 42
Severity: High
Message: Possible SQL Injection

In SARIF, that information becomes structured JSON that any compatible platform can understand.

The scanner changes, but the format remains the same.

  How SARIF Helps Developers

  One Format for Many Tools

Instead of handling dozens of output formats:

Tool A -> Format A
Tool B -> Format B
Tool C -> Format C

you can standardize on:

Tool A
Tool B
Tool C
   ↓
SARIF

  Better Tool Interoperability

A SARIF file generated by one tool can be consumed by another platform without modification.

This makes integrations significantly easier.

  GitHub Code Scanning Support

One of the biggest reasons SARIF became popular is GitHub Code Scanning.

GitHub accepts SARIF uploads and automatically displays:

Security findings

Code quality issues

Vulnerabilities

File-level annotations

directly inside pull requests and repositories.

  Easier Aggregation

Organizations often run multiple scanners:

Semgrep
Trivy
Checkov
Gitleaks
Bandit

SARIF makes it possible to combine all findings into a single report.

  Conclusion

SARIF is a common language that allows tools to exchange findings in a standard way.

As the number of security and code analysis tools continues to grow, standards like SARIF help reduce integration complexity and make tool ecosystems work together more effectively.

Any feedback or contributors are welcome! It’s online, source-available, and ready for anyone to use.

⭐ Star git-lrc on GitHub

StarClan.live

StarClan.live is a free warrior cat name generator built for fans of Erin Hunter's Warriors book series. The tool creates authentic clan names using the same traditional prefix and suffix naming system established across the Warriors novels, giving fans, writers, and roleplayers a reliable way to generate names that actually sound like they belong in the books.

Most warrior cat name generators online treat the naming system as a simple random word combination. StarClan.live was built differently. Every prefix and suffix in the generator was manually reviewed against naming patterns across the Warriors novel series and the official Erin Hunter companion guides. Each entry includes its meaning so users understand the character story behind every name they generate, not just the words themselves.

The generator holds over 80 prefixes and 65 suffixes, producing more than 5,000 unique warrior cat name combinations. Rank-specific naming rules are enforced automatically: apprentices always receive the suffix paw, leaders always receive star, and kits always carry kit. This means every name the tool produces follows proper lore conventions with no invalid combinations and no immersion-breaking results.

Three generation modes cover every use case. Random mode pairs a prefix and suffix instantly with a single click, ideal for quick inspiration or when you want the clans to decide for you. Custom mode lets users lock in their own prefix, suffix, or both, with autocomplete suggestions drawn from the full list. Batch mode generates between 3 and 20 names at once, making it the fastest way to build a full clan roster for a story, roleplay server, or fan game.

Each generated name comes with more than just the words. The result card shows the prefix and its meaning, the suffix and its meaning, the assigned rank, the clan, a personality trait, and a special ability, giving users a complete starting point for building a character rather than just a name to copy.

Clan and rank filters give users full control over the output. Choose from ThunderClan, RiverClan, WindClan, ShadowClan, or SkyClan to match your character's background, and select from seven ranks, including warrior, apprentice, kit, leader, deputy, medicine cat, and elder. Names can be saved within a session and copied to the clipboard with a single click.

StarClan.live is completely free, requires no account or registration, and works on all devices. There is no data collection, no tracking cookies, and no paywalled features. The generator is supported by a growing blog covering warrior cat naming conventions, lore guides, and tips for creating authentic OC names, making it a useful resource for the Warriors community beyond the tool itself.

Ruleta Aleatoria

Ruleta Aleatoria: Random Wheel Spinner for Fair Decisions

End Decision Paralysis with One Spin

Ruletaa is a free, web-based random wheel spinner that eliminates bias from any selection process. Pick names in a classroom, assign tasks in team meetings, or decide who pays for dinner with a single spin.

Stop debating. Stop second-guessing. When multiple options exist and fairness matters, let the wheel decide.

What Makes It Stand Out

Fully Customizable Wheels
Create wheels with custom text, colors, and weights. Adjust the probability of each option by changing its weight, giving you control over the randomization algorithm.

Multiple Wheels in One Place
Store up to 10 wheels per file and spin them individually or simultaneously. Create different wheels for various scenarios and switch between them seamlessly.

Privacy by Design
All data is stored locally on your device. No login required, no personal information collected, and no forced uploads to external servers. Your wheels remain private unless you choose to share them.

Mobile-First Interface
Optimized for both mobile and desktop with comprehensive touch handling that eliminates the 300ms click delay. Supports portrait and landscape orientations for flexible use in any setting.

Easy Sharing
Generate public links to share your custom wheels with anyone. Recipients see an exact replica of your wheel with the same entries, colors, and weights.

Fair Randomization
Uses a secure random algorithm that guarantees unbiased results. Each spin is calculated based on the weight of the options, ensuring true randomness.

Technical Foundation

Built on Next.js 14 with TypeScript, styled with Tailwind CSS and DaisyUI. Supports full internationalization via next-intl. Deploys on Cloudflare Pages for global performance. Includes custom mobile touch optimization that eliminates the 300ms click delay on mobile devices.

Who It's For

Teachers organizing classroom activities, team leaders distributing tasks, families deciding on dinner plans, event organizers running raffles, or anyone who needs a quick and fair way to make random selections.

Live Now

Try Ruleta Aleatoria now! Zero installation. Zero registration. Just open your browser and start making decisions.

Appendix

[Share] Utility Program – App Launcher, with Big White Dot

As someone who uses and writes lots of programs, and works on countless projects simultaneously, it's undesirable to switch between different workspaces constantly, and I felt it would be nice to be able to "just launch it" whenever I needed something.

There's something oddly satisfying about Apple's little gray AssistiveTouch dot on iOS – the floating button that saves your Home button from being hammered thousands of times a day. I remember the first time I used it; I thought, "This is the kind of small, thoughtful shortcut that makes tech feel effortless."

For years, I've wanted something just as simple and frictionless on my desktop – something to jump straight into my most-used apps, folders, or websites without digging through menus or cluttered taskbars.

I was busy, so I couldn't work on a GUI – that's what MULTITUDE was originally intended to do. As a compromise, I adopted a CLI approach this time – that's how Launcher was born.

The Concept

I'm not trying to reinvent Rainmeter or the Windows taskbar. In fact, I used Rainmeter for a while, but over time, I realized I just wanted the core utility – fast launching – without the heavy desktop widgets, skins, or constant tweaking.

Launcher is my take on that: a lightweight, no-nonsense tool for power users who live in the terminal but still appreciate having a quick-click GUI when they need it. Think of it as a "pocket taskbar" that doesn't get in your way.

Two Faces: CLI & Big White Dot

Launcher comes in two modes:

CLI (
lc
) – For when I'm already in a terminal. One command is all I need:

lc Chrome
lc Search "best coffee shops near me"
lc --list

Big White Dot (GUI) – A semi-transparent, always-on-top floating button. One click, and I'm in my favorites, recents, or common folders. No scrolling. No fuss.

It's the desktop equivalent of that Apple gray dot – always there when you need it, invisible when you don't.

When launched, it's also available in Task Tray on Windows:

Features

Faster than Rainmeter – There's no overhead, no heavy widget engine.

Customizable – You own the shortcuts. A single YAML file defines everything:

Editor: "C:\Program Files\MyEditor\editor.exe"
Docs: "C:\Users\You\Documents"
Search: "https://google.com/search?q="
Build: !? dotnet build MySolution.sln

Script-friendly – Need the raw path for a shortcut?
lc --print Name
. Want fuzzy search?
lc --search keywords
.

Resources

Download: methodox.itch.io/launcher

Source: github.com/MethodoxTech/Launcher

Add it to your PATH, tweak the
Configurations.yaml
, and you're ready to fly.

Final Thoughts

Launcher is the utility I didn't realize would work so well until I started using it daily. It's a very simple concept, but indispensable. It's for anyone who values speed, simplicity, and staying in flow. If you've ever wished for a desktop equivalent of that iOS gray dot, give it a try – and tell me what shortcuts you end up building with it.
