🏆 SQL Hackathon Completed — Winner Announced

I’m excited to announce the successful completion of my SQL Business Analytics Challenge on Kaggle.

The challenge focused on a practical SQL problem:

Find the top-spending customer in each country over the last 30 days.

Participants were challenged to build a robust SQL solution using:

JOIN operations between Customers and Orders

Common Table Expressions (CTEs)

Aggregation with SUM()

Window functions such as ROW_NUMBER() or RANK()

Country-level ranking

Tie-breaking by customer name

Filtering orders from the most recent 30 days

📊 Challenge Results

A total of 6 submissions were reviewed.

Submissions were evaluated based on:

SQL logic correctness

Proper use of window functions

Query clarity and comments

Explanation of the approach

Overall correctness

🥇 SQL Excellence Award

Winner: Shohinur Pervez Shohan

Winning project:

“Top-Spending Customer Per Country”

The winning solution used a CTE + Window Function approach and was validated against the original dataset, including join cases and edge cases involving orders outside the 30-day window.

The solution correctly performed customer-level spending aggregation, ranked customers within each country, and handled the required tie-breaking logic.

👏 Congratulations to Shohinur Pervez Shohan!

🙌 Thank You to Everyone Who Participated

Thank you to everyone who submitted a SQL solution and took part in the challenge.

The goal of this challenge was not only competition, but also practical learning — applying SQL concepts to a realistic business analytics problem and comparing different approaches to solving it.

I’m happy to have organized this challenge and to see the community engage with SQL and data analytics.

🔗 Challenge & Results
