Building Shiori GLOBAL: How We Created an AI-Powered Circular Learning Network for Students

Hey CoderLegion community! 👋

Millions of educational books sit unused on shelves after a student completes a academic year, while millions of other students struggle to afford high-quality learning resources.

To solve this, I built Shiori GLOBAL 🌿—an AI-powered circular learning platform designed to help students buy, sell, donate, swap, and discover educational books while tracking their environmental and social impact.

Here is a quick breakdown of how we engineered Shiori GLOBAL to transform book sharing for students:

🤖 1. The AI Book Scanner: Frictionless Listing
Manually filling out details like title, author, edition, class, subject, and publisher deters students from listing their unused books.

The Solution: We integrated an AI-powered book detection flow. A user simply uploads or camera-scans a book cover, and our AI extracts:

Title & Author

Class, Subject & Edition

Estimated Condition & Publisher

Developer Takeaway: Reducing user friction through computer vision / AI extraction boosts user engagement and catalog expansion drastically.

🔄 2. Circular Economy Mechanics (Buy, Sell, Donate, Swap)
Educational resource distribution shouldn't just be about commercial selling. Shiori supports multiple transaction types to maximize resource reuse:

Smart Marketplace: Categorized by CBSE, ICSE, Competitive Exams, and School/College books.

Hyper Local Matching: Sorting listings by approximate distance so students can swap or claim free books within their local community.

Trust & Safety: Direct communication channels connecting verified book owners seamlessly.

🌱 3. Impact Tracking & Sustainability
Giving every book a second life doesn't just save money it reduces paper waste and carbon footprint. Shiori includes community impact tracking to quantify how many trees and litres of water students save by reusing textbooks.

💡 Developer Tip for Young Creators
When building projects, focus on solving real community problems. Technology is at its best when it creates a circular ecosystem turning one student's completed journey into another student's learning opportunity!

What do you think about using AI computer vision to automate marketplace listings? I'd love to hear your thoughts and suggestions in the comments below! 🚀
