Yo everyone, this is my first post and I wanna talk about assembly.
So back in 1962, the US launched Mariner 1 to Venus. A few mins after liftoff, the rocket started going off course, so they had to blow it up. Turns out it was a code bug: in an assembly program (or something close to it), they missed one little bar over a letter in a formula. Instead of smoothing the trajectory, the program started wobbling it. Cost of that mistake? Like 18.5 million bucks (in that era's money) and a dead mission. Since then, people bring it up as proof that even one symbol in low-level code can cost you a whole rocket.
So yeah, I honestly don't get those "mutants" in programming who write in assembly. I got one buddy who codes in assembly, and we don't even talk anymore (maybe that's part of why lol). Anyway, I'm learning C myself and wanna be a systems programmer, and I got no clue how I'm gonna learn assembly — just so you know, it's right below machine code. Btw, assembly is a super hard language that eats up tons of time. But there are way more Python jobs (and neural nets will take those anyway) than assembly jobs. In the end, I just respect people who know it.
