TerraMaster F2-212
This is one of TerraMaster's more affordable enclosures, coming in at a discounted $145. Two drive bays are present with a maximum capacity of 44TB, before taking into account RAID, making this a good NAS for beginners.
My favorite NAS, the Synology DiskStation DS224+, is currently on sale. This is a great price for such an enclosure, rocking an Intel processor, 2GB of RAM before upgrades, and two drive bays. The lack of any expansion support does limit you to the internal bays, but this is a powerful system for the price. It can even be used as a foundation for Plex Media Server with full transcoding support. This NAS is a highly recommended buy, especially at its discounted $293.
TerraMaster makes some solid NAS enclosures that are usually priced lower than the competition and we've seen a few go on sale for Black Friday. The TerraMaster F2-212 is one of the more affordable servers from the company and it's currently discounted to just $145. That's a great price for a two-bay ARM-powered server with support for up to 44TB of capacity. The F2-223 is on sale for $208 and comes with a powerful Intel CPU, M.2 slots for SSDs, and faster networking.
One of my favorite NAS enclosures for running Plex is also on sale from TerraMaster. The F4-423 is a capable enclosure with an Intel CPU, M.2 SSD slots, speedy 2.5GbE networking, and support for up to 32GB of DDR4 RAM. Whether you're setting up a small business or need somewhere to stash files, stream media, and run surveillance, the F4-423 will be more than happy to lend a hand.

FAQ
Q: How much should you spend on a NAS for Black Friday?
With all the enticing deals on NAS enclosures for Black Friday, just how much should you spend? Depending on what you need the connected storage to do, it can be possible to spend as little as $100 or as much as $2,000. The better the specifications and capacity support, the higher the price will be. If all you need is somewhere to stash files and stream some media, we'd recommend spending up to $500 on a capable NAS server and Black Friday is a great time to save.
Q: How to tell if a Black Friday discount is a good deal?
There are various browser extensions and websites that allow one to compare the current listing price of an item on retail websites such as Amazon against prior sales and periods. We utilize CamelCamelCamel, which is great for checking the price history of products listed on Amazon. You can be sure that every deal you see on XDA has been personally vetted and would be discounted products we'd buy ourselves — it's always better to spend wisely.
Q: Which NAS should you buy on Black Friday?
The best NAS to buy depends on what it's going to be used for. If all you require is somewhere to stash some files and want to save money on a monthly cloud storage subscription, a $200 enclosure such as the Synology DiskStation DS223j or TerraMaster F2-221 would suffice. These NAS enclosures are also frequently on sale for events such as Black Friday. If you'd like to create a Plex-powered streaming platform, you're going to need more power.
As well as considering the price of a NAS, it's also vital to include drives, since just about every enclosure is sold without drives. Then there are other specifications, such as the processor, installed RAM, connectivity through ports, and software support. We've compared the best NAS enclosures from top brands such as QNAP, Asustor, Synology, and TerraMaster. You'll only find the best discounts covered here throughout the long sales weekend.
