Biography
Rick Santorum is an American lawyer, politician and commentator.
Richard John Santorum was born in 1958 and the middle son of 3 children born to Catherine (1918â2019) an administrative nurse, and Aldo Santorum (1923â2011), a clinical psychologist, who emigrated at age seven from Riva, Trentino, Italy to the USA.
In 1994 he was elected to the United States Senate from Pennsylvania.
He represented Pennsylvania in the United States Senate from 1995 to 2007. He was the Senate's third-ranking Republican during the final six years of his tenure.
He also ran unsuccessfully for President of the United States in the 2012 Republican primaries, finishing second to Mitt Romney.
He has consistently held socially conservative views and has advocated "compassionate conservatism".
