Last year Framework Computer launched the Framework Laptop 12 as an upgrade-friendly and Linux-compatible 2-in-1 laptop. The Framework Laptop 12 was originally powered by Intel Core 13th Gen "Raptor Lake" low-end processor while now Framework is adding Core Series 3 "Wildcat Lake" as an upgrade or for new Laptop 12 orders.

Framework Computer announced today that the Framework Laptop 12 is gaining Core Series 3 "Wildcat Lake" as an option with Thunderbolt 4, WiFi 7, optional backlit keyboard, and other upgrades. Framework Computer is also going to offer Fedora Linux pre-loaded too.

Pre-orders on the upgraded Framework Laptop 12 begin today while the first batch of the laptops will ship in October.

More details on the upgraded Framework Laptop 12 can be found via the Framework Blog.

The Framework Laptop 12 DIY Edition with Wildcat Lake starts out at $549 for the Core 3 304 model, $779 USD for the Core 5 320 model, and $999 for the Core 7 350 model. The DIY Edition is without RAM or storage by default. Pre-built options are $699, $1099, and $1399, respectively. Details on the order page.

Intel's Wildcat Lake support should be in good shape under Linux with recent kernel versions. Just this week the $449 Chuwi laptop review sample arrived using Wildcat Lake, so in the coming days will be the start of Intel WCL benchmarks on Phoronix.
