Perhaps this is as good as it gets
This line strikes me in particular. Maybe I have spent all of this time trying to find the answer to a problem that doesn't even exist. Perhaps there is nothing for me to be depressed about. My life may actually be in perfect order and I'm trying to turn it into something for which it was not meant. I need to learn acceptance.
Jerrick took Liz to Orlando this weekend so that she could hang out with her friend that just moved there. I was supposed to take her but I have put too many miles under my belt in the past few weeks. So I asked Jerrick if he would take her, and as a bonus he could visit with his old college buddies. I'm still not really sure how I feel about this... I know, it's already done... but I don't know if I'm okay with my decision. I wanted him to go and have a good time, but there is also a part of me that hopes that he will realize that he doesn't belong with them anymore. No, I don't think that I'm better than them, but I do believe that we are at different life mile-markers. I don't think that he has any business hanging around with a couple of single, drug-using, unemployed college "kids". It's been like 4 years since he saw them, and it would seem to me that they have gone no where. I can understand if they were working on masters degrees or something... but whatever, not the point. I don't know these girls, so it is not my place to judge. Did you catch that?? Girls. I let my husband go spend the weekend with a couple of girls that he used to party with, and I've never met either one of them. Part of me wonders if he's telling the truth about his relationship with them. He said that he never slept with either one, but that doesn't mean that there might not have been emotions or other things. Am I just being paranoid?? Most likely. I need to learn to trust and communicate with my husband.
Liz is pissing me off because it's starting to feel like she doesn't respect me... or acknowledge the fact that I am her guardian (i.e. authority figure). I know that she thought she was going to get away with not cleaning out her closet. I know that she knew that she was supposed to clean it. I know that she choose to go hand out with her friends instead of cleaning it. I also know that no one says that I have to try to give as much as I do. She has been taking my stuff into her room and not returning... and not telling me that she has it. I will ask her a question, and she will outright lie to me about it. I let her borrow my digital camera to go with her friends to do some car searching... she left my camera in her friend's van, no big whoop... girl was supposed to return it Friday... Friday night as I was yelling about Liz's closet, I noticed my camera on her computer desk... next morning, it's gone... on it's way to Orlando with her. She took $300 in property of MINE without asking if it was okay with me or even letting me know that she was going to do it. I assume that she had planned to take it and either A.) forgot to ask me before she left and figured she'd take it anyway OR B.) just didn't think it was necessary to ask me for it. Either way, it was rude and disrespectful. I need to learn not be afraid of making people mad at me.
I need to learn how to get to bed at a decent time.
