Wow, after doing my homework on the subject , I have a coupon for at least 75% of my grocery list. It took a few hours. If I kept at it I know I'd get closer to 90% but I'm tired. If I navigate through another manufacturer's boring website tonight I may go blind.

No milk, egg, produce or meat coupons. I did find a place that always has gallons of milk for $1.99 as the regular price. There is a store in front of the United Dairymen Association on Broadway. I drive by there on my way home from work. I don't buy organic milk but I probably should. The boys drink a gallon+ a piece a week. Maybe I should just get a cow.

No one is coming to save you.

korwyn used to tell me that when I was down and discouraged. I never really thought anyone was coming to save me but I understand what he was saying.

A member of the Order of the Pelican (SCA), an order I belong to, is being taken off life support today. She was feeling ill after her elevation ceremony and went home from the event early.
She has been diagnosed with H1N1. I did not know her personally but I know from personal experience that you don't get to be a Pelican by going to bed early and getting plenty of rest. Most (not all) Pelicans push themselves too hard. I can't help but wonder if she was pushing herself hard during and before the event.

I have a tiny bit of hope that she will continue on after they pull hr off life support; that she will show that she's not ready to go. That will probably not be the case.

I work for a health insurance company and I've done something kind for 100's of people who don't even know it. A few years back, we had a system failure. For whatever reason the system did not send alerts and the people using the system did not realize it was down. The system was used to arrange cab rides for medicare-medicaid people who cannot drive but have appointments they cannot miss. The system was designed to fax cab companies without having everyone fax the same number all at once. Our company could send out 24 faxes at a time but the cab companies could only receive 1-3 at a time each. Around 50 employees could also be sending requests to the 24 fax lines. The system was designed to do traffic control and hold faxes until something was available.

On this day it stopped and all the faxes over a few hours failed to go through. I discovered that it wasn't working during a routine check. I saw the problem, checked to see if there was an alert notice we missed and wondered why no one said anything. I called the users and confirmed the problem. The problem was fixed quickly with a reboot.

When it came back up there were over 1000 failed faxes. Not my fault but I felt bad for all the people. When the system was down in the past, we'd know immediately, and there would only be 100 or so faxes. We could sit there and add the failed faxes to the proccess over the course of a few hours while working on other things. This time there were a lot. I was told that it was late and there was nothing that could be done but to dump large batches into the system. Most would fail. The department who used the system would see in the morning that most of their stuff failed. They would have to make a phone call for each failure to make arrangements over the phone. I knew somebody somewhere would miss a morning cab. I sat there and manually did traffic control. After awhile I went home and continued working on it for home until it got late and everything went through.

We aren't the devil. We do care.

Another dear old friend of mine has passed today. He was a good person. I can honestly say that I can't think of anyone who didn't like him and trust him.

People have been talking about the trustworthiness of Walter Cronkite (SP?). He had that level of trust from people. When he was looking for a job, he got lots of referrals from people. Even though his skills were dated his character was unquestionable and his ability to work with people was matched by few.

We saw each other at two funerals in a row a few years ago. We joked and said we've got to stop meeting like this.

Buddy, smack Kyle on the back of the head for me when you see him.

Making dinner again. White Bean Soup and Cornbread.

Did a little work today, talked to a few people on the phone, make plans to take the boys to grandma M's house tomorrow.

I haven't heard from Joel in about 48 hours. He must be out of range.

What else? It's my birthday month and my doctor insists that his patients get a physical at (or around) their birthday. I guess I should make the appointment.....or something.

Joel's at work. The baby is down for a nap, Bjorn's watching Miss Spider and I told him we'd paint when it was over. I thought, now's my chance, I'm taking a quick shower. I get undressed, I weigh myself while the water warms up, I get in, and get my hair wet. Bam! Bam! Bam! "I got da poop! I got da poop!" It's Bjorn.

Damn it. I let him in, I get him set up. I tell him to wait right there and not to get up until I get out of the shower. I poke my head around the curtain a minute later. He's standing up and there is poop on the seat! Arrrgghh!! No shower for me. I my hair is washed. I guess that's something.

Joel's coming home early so we can go wedding hopping. He's planning on doing my hair color before we leave. Maybe I'll shave the stems and pits then? I didn't take a shower yesterday so I'd really like to take an actual shower today.

I'm glad my little man is practically potty trained, but I want to take a shower!!!!!!!!!!

Hey I Made A Dress Out Of That? [12 Mar 2009|12:44pm]
[ mood | amused ]

So I'm sitting in on a conference call. They are remodeling an office and I need to listen in just in case they need Telecom assistance. They are talking color of furnishings. They start bashing the pattern choice on one of the options. I open the attachment to see what we are talking about.

I've made a dress out of that fabric! Hahahahahahahahahaha!

Back from a jog and low impact dancing/aerobics in the house. Yay for sports bras. Now back to work. Need to get some stuff done before traveling to a satellite office for some after hours SRST testing.

Still fat, just in a little better shape.
