I've set up a wordpress blog: it's here I've imported my LJ entries and I think I will stop posting here, which is a pity because I still check my friends posts everyday, as well as the communities - I'm just not that inspired to write anything on LJ anymore.
But do check out my new blog, hopefully I won't bored the crap out of you all with wedding talk ^_^ |

| Experiment week |

I am experimenting with various things this week. The first is Netflix. Considering I hire movies every weekend without fail and the only video store near our new home is bloody blockbuster (expensive and poopy selection ... aah inner-west how you spoilt me with your cult, weird and interesting selection) I thought I may as well take advantage of a free trial and see how we go!
The second thing I am experimenting is this gorgeous Diana F+ lomo camera.
I bought medium format film for it while I was in the city (not as pricey as I thought) and have already had a play with it whilst on my afternoon walk with Knuckles. Fun! I can't wait to get back in to photography, although it's not real photography it's point-kinda aim-shoot-cross fingers-photography ^_^
The third thing is lino-cut printing. I REALLLLLY want a Gocco kit (Japanese screen printing kit, very cute) but since they don't grow on trees and are quite limited in what they can do, i am playing around with drawing and making lino prints. My memories of lino-cutting are limited to the injuries I sustained, rather than the work I produced. Large chunks of my fingers were removed when misplaced force caused the cutting implement to embed itself in my flesh - whoops!
But maybe I'll get better at it this time, hopefully I will quickly as I would like to make a print for our Xmas cards. |

So as usual, if you don't post often a LOT happens between updates. Such is the case in my life.
At the beginning of October, my 15 year old dog -Thorn - went to doggie heaven. It was an assisted passing as he just kept holding on and his quality of life kept dropping (severe arthritis, slight dementia, occasional incontinence) and we felt it was mean to leave him in such pain. It was breaking my heart to see the puppy that I'd bought with all my savings at age 14 become so old. He was my constant companion for half my life, through school exams, boyfriends, houses, travels and hair colours (I used to match the white patch on his head with the hair colour I had at the time). He will be missed.

Knuckles is now six months old (she missed Thorn when he left, but I think she's okay now) and was desexed on Friday, so she is enjoying all the mollycoddling that comes to an injured dog. Such delights include being allowed to sleep in our bedroom (dogs are put outside in the evening) and constant tummy rubs (she thinks we're being nice, but our ulterior motive to is keep an eye on her wound).
We journeyed to Melbourne the other week to attend Bob's younger sister's wedding. Location in the Yarra Valley (the wine region just outside of Melbourne) it was a picturesque ceremony with a killer entrance - the bride arrived by helicopter!
 Emma arriving.
Just outside the chapel.

Emma looked amazing and the chapel was rustic, simple and wonderful.

Oh yeah, and I scrubbed up not to shabby also...
50s chiffon dress bought on ebay, tailored to fit me, with aurora crystal jewellry.

I also tracked down a beautician who could give me a 1930s style manicure (clear half moons)... the result:
 Lovely.
And of course Bob matched.

Now we are getting the gears turning for Christmas, as this year we are again having it at our house. Although different to last year, which was a buffet in the afternoon, this event will be the complete sit-down-lunch-shebang. Attendants are from both mine and Bob's family, numbering 16. Which is not as many as it could be as my brother, Leefe and his wife and daughters are currently living in Japan and the newly weds are spending this year with the in-laws in Melbourne, which would have pushed the guest list to 22.
And I only own 8 dinning chairs.
I am currently waiting for my mother to arrive so we can beetle off to the markets before tackling the task of the blessed Xmas Pudding (yes, it's that important it warrants capitals). |

| Disappointing 50s Fair |

| [ | mood |
| | exhausted | ] | I think I've been going to the 50s Fair for too long. It was pretty disappointing on Sunday, I only bought three things after managing to pick up some amazing pieces in preceding weekend markets and swap meets.
I bought a set (2 pieces) of barkcloth curtains, yellow with green and grey image panels, 3 metres long, 2 metres wide from Rozelle markets the other week. They are sensational and fit my lounge room windows (that are HUGE) perfectly. I was so excited to get them - for a bargin! Whee!
I've been taking Knuckles to the markets a lot lately, our dog trainer says we need to socialise her with lots and lots of people, in loud and confusing situations so she gets used to crowds and people and random strangers so she doesn't turn into an aggressive dog (lots of little yappy dogs are aggressive because they weren't socialised properly, apparently).
I dressed up nice to go to the 50s Fair and usually get stopped every 5 seconds for a photo, but this year people decided to only photograph me while I was stuffing my face with food :/ Having a coffee, eating salad, piggin' out on delicious chocolate ice cream - all at different times in the day, I would look around and someone would be aiming a camera at me. So I would slowly turn my back on them. Hey! I'm dressed up I get it = photo op. But honestly do you REALLY want a photo of some redhead shoveling food into her gob whilst trying not to mess the lipstick? Attractive.
So I took some photos with Knuckles when I got home.
