AI-driven KM startup DeepJudge is partnering with Epiq Advisory for Law Firms, the consulting group attached to the multi-capability legal tech conglomerate, Epiq.
The partnership will âprovide structured AI implementation and governed adoption of workflowsâ related to KM, they said.
For its part, the Epiq group states publicly that it handles âconsulting engagements [which] are collaborations – we are invested in our clients’ results. Clients turn to us for our deep expertise in the business and practice of law and our extensive experience implementing changes in how lawyers and their clients workâ.
Well-known legal tech expert, Ryan Steadman, joined the group in March last year, after working at multiple companies in this sector, both large and small, from Thomson Reuters to Zero Systems.
In short, this is one of many ‘legal tech plus consultancy’ moves that we regularly see in the market, with the consultants providing the âelbow greaseâ needed to get the software into a firm, or inhouse team, and then (hopefully) widely adopted.

Paulina Grnarova, CEO and Co-founder of DeepJudge, commented: âOur partnership with Epiq strengthens firmsâ ability to incorporate DeepJudge into a holistic AI strategy and translate that foundation into firm-wide adoption, measurable business value, and competitive advantage.â
And Jim Tuvell, Managing Director of Epiq Advisory for Law Firms, added: âLaw firms have made real progress experimenting with AI. The next challenge is turning that momentum into measurable business impact.
âDeepJudge enterprise search and AI workflows enable firms to find and use their institutional knowledge in governed, permission-aware ways. We help our clients be successful by working together to identify valuable use cases, build scalable AI workflows, and establish governance and adoption programs required to deliver value at a firm-wide scale.â
Is this a big deal?
As mentioned, many legal tech companies work hand-in-hand with consultancies, in part because providing human services is not meant to be part of their business model. Epiq has a lot of customers globally, although itâs not known if the wider companyâs clients also match those of the Epiq consultancy group.
