Authorities in Phuket have intensified inspections against unlawful hotel operations, uncovering three establishments running without proper licenses.
The coordinated operation, led by provincial officials and police, targeted properties in Thalang and Mueang districts suspected of violating the Hotel Act B.E. 2547 (2004). Investigators found complex shareholder structures involving cross-holdings and nominee arrangements, raising concerns about concealed foreign ownership.
Governor Chotnirin Kerdsom confirmed that evidence has been submitted to police for prosecution. âThis enforcement will not affect law-abiding businesses. It ensures fair competition and strengthens confidence in Phuketâs tourism industry,â he said.
Officials pledged to expand investigations into shareholder networks, financial flows, and ultimate beneficiaries. The crackdown aligns with government policy to create transparency in the hospitality sector, protect the economy, and uphold standards for investors and tourists alike.
