J2ME TASing is finally here!
posted by feos 2 days ago
I can't believe this is finally happening...
Thanks to years of hard work by AShiningRay (with other freej2me-plus contributors) and TwoSpacesSG, and lots of help from Dimon12321, we're now accepting J2ME TASes for submission!
See the guide on setting it up (inside BizHawk running Windows 98):
The setup is quite convoluted but it's the easiest we have so far. There are plans to adapt this for PCem running Linux, because not all games will run in BizHawk.
Be aware of movie rules specific to J2ME:
Load State: a TASVideos Monthly Recap (September 2026)
posted by Darkman425 10 days ago
Hey there, folks. ikuyo's busy this month and doesn't have the time to make her monthly Load State recap article this month. However, I alongside a couple of other TASVideo staff members got together to write up a guest Load State article to highlight September 2026 publications that we found neat. The previous month saw a whopping 62 publications and it'd be a shame to not highlight at least some of them.
- Let's start this month off with [7355] NES Ninja Gaiden "damageless" by FourLi39 & Rum in 10:56.203. Ninja Gaiden is a classic 8-bit game that has an elaborate story told through cinematic cutscenes, nice gameplay, good graphics and memorable music. Combining all elements this title became famous since then, however... how about the known high difficulty that frustrated many players despite the acclaim received by critics? FourLi39 & Rum aim for beating the game without ever getting hit from a bunch of enemies in the way, including these annoying birds who are present several times, especially during the last level. The fandom will be proud of this dream project after all! -Challenger
- [7356] PC UFO 50: Mortol II - The Confederacy of Nilpis by Fuirya in 1:53.983 (IGT) brings us another published author in the UFO 50 TASing scene. Fuirya demonstrates the power of ninjas, pipes, and bombs (but not pipe bombs) to take down the dark hearts inside the labyrinthine Castle Nilpis in record time! -Darkman425
- [7364] Genesis Kid Chameleon by CaseyTAS in 10:29.944 game seems unassuming at first glance, but it quickly proves itself as something special within the first few levels. It's hard to convey how confusing the routing for this game is as there are so many alternative paths one could take. Despite that, it's still an incredible watch if you like seeing characters gain an ungodly amount of speed in ways you never thought was possible. -EZGames69
- Samsara and thegugafÃĄ shows us that kaizo style Super Mario World hacks can be a breeze with [7368] SNES Kaizo Breeze by Samsara & thegugafÃĄ in 08:30.609. Around 25 seconds have been saved from the previous publication through the use of P-meter management to bypass a lot of the intended methods and breeze their way to the end in record time. -Darkman425
- For the fans of video game adaptions of French comics as well as fans of the Sega Master System, [7384] SMS AstÃĐrix by arnaud33200 & The8bitbeast in 23:24.976 is here for you! New strategies found by RTA runners in the past few years have been implemented by arnaud33200 & The8bitbeast to thwart Julius Caesar in record time. -Darkman425
- synabler brings in more UFO 50 goodness with UFO 50's secretly-a-deck-builder (rolodex builder?) House Party! [7387] PC UFO 50: Party House "Gold" by synabler in 5:43.350 (RTA) has lots of RNG manipulation and management to balance the guest list, the guests every night, and the house size to complete the 5 preset scenarios in quick succession. -Darkman425
- ChucJo strikes back with another massive improvement to the game which has already been researched beyond expectations! [7393] NES Solar Jetman: Hunt for the Golden Warpship by ChucJo in 05:21.570 exploits a brand new glitch through the Tether mechanic allowing the small pod to challenge the laws of gravity, travel around the last planet using new items purchased this time and fulfill the journey within five minutes after all. -Challenger
- [7401] PSX Chou Kousoku Gran Doll by somyeol in 13:37.903 reminds us of the time that 1990s OVAs could get cool video games, and somyeol provides a TAS that demonstrates a lot of the game's cool mechanics in record time. -Darkman425
Speaking of pipe bombs[7403] GBC Hatsune Miku Bomb Squad by Cephla in 02:23.662 is a TAS of a neat homebrew logic puzzle game with Hatsune Miku as the player's bomb defusal instructor. Cephla's knowledge of the solutions beforehand makes this a nice and quick TAS to watch for anyone with a bit of time to spare. -Darkman425- [7404] Genesis Beast Wrestler "Velvent Fusion" by AZYblaster in 22:58.542 is a highly unusual game for the Sega Genesis, and seeing a wrestling TAS get published isn't a common sight. New author AZYblaster demonstrates that using a strike-based wrestling style is a quick way to defeat the 15 beastly opponents awaiting them in the squared circle in record time. -Darkman425
- Four years ago, TASVideos saw this game beating all tracks using the hardest difficult which isn't an easy task for some players: nymx did a science project optimizing each lap and manipulating the opponents through patience, skills, power and perfection! In addition, he even included a separate in-game timer alternative movie as a bonus, and now in 2026 this title returns with [7406] SNES F-Zero by nymx in 39:21.178 and is as powerful as before, showing even additional discoveries done by the F-Zero community. The collaboration makes the difference! -Challenger [*This game is an interesting situation: it is a Java title made for post-soviet countries, where the original PC game gained most popularity. Here Dimon12321 decided to bring [7407] J2ME Alien Shooter by Dimon12321 in 10:28.450 as one of first Java games to TASVideos, taking advantage of the heavy management resource while dealing with the slow framerate. The objective of Alien Shooter is to eliminate all the enemies in each level while the player collects many weapons, some health care and destroy many obstacles such as explosives, walls, boxes and even traps in every way. Combining everything is a good quality result even for the Java system debut in the community! -Challenger
- To round out this month's post, KiwiCracker demonstrates that even late 1970s racing games aren't immune to big unintentional skips to speed them up. [7415] O2 Spin-Out! by KiwiCracker in 00:14.869 exploits the game's checkpoint system with a counterintuitive strat that saves an amazing 00:04.596 seconds to the previous publication! -Darkman425
Load State: a TASVideos Monthly Recap (August 2026)
posted by ikuyo on 9/13/2026 11:23âŊPM
Hello again and welcome to Load State, your third favorite TASVideos monthly writeup. I'm ikuyo, Tool Assisted Slasher, and I am here to do what I do most: yap about TASes I like for as long as I can get you to read. You are right on time to hear me ramble as I spread the word of playing slowly and then playing it back, so before I lose you, let's get to it!
- Starting right away with a debut, let's give it up for IntangibleMatter and her debut movie, [7287] PC Psycholonials by IntangibleMatter in 23:46.050. I have to applaud diving into an Unity game as your first TAS because it is not easy, so give her a warm welcome!
- [7288] N64 Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards "all shards" by 0xwas in 1:02:45.383 is a wonderful completionist movie where 0xwas had a lot of fun. The boss fights and the autoscrollers show a lot of entertaining movement and cute little maneuvers all around.
- [7293] GBC Ghosts 'n Goblins by Walgrey in 15:23.353 was quite the movie! Seeing Arthur determined to reach his girlfriend enough to learn levitation and take strategic hits to clip upwards was a fun sight. Walgrey shows a lot of nice tech in this movie, so read the author notes to get some of her insights.
- [7295] NES Rockman 2 MIN by longbao in 27:17.320 is a significant improvement of 43 seconds over the previous publication thanks to several optimizations. longbao continues their dedicated work on Rockman hacks with clean and efficient boss fights and the zips we all know and love.
- [7299] Genesis Dino Land by Twisted_Eye in 01:11.142 is an interesting case of finding just the right exploit in the design of a pinball table! Twisted_Eye finds a clever way to rack up points and finish this pinball game very quickly.
- [7302] PC Undertale "Neutral ending, newgame+" by LukeSaward & hyasynthesized in 34:46.483 is a glitchy movie with the high quality you'd expect from the Undertale TASing community. LukeSaward and hyasynthesized team up to speed through the lesser-known new game plus mode in Undertale, with glitches galore to skip as much as possible
- [7304] FDS Super Mario Bros. 2 "all levels, Luigi" by JQJ in 35:34.934 is an impressive debut movie by JQJ that will deliver all your cravings for slick and stylish Super Mario Bros. goodness. Congratulations in your first publication!
- [7305] PSX Breath of Fire III "best ending" by Xujhan in 7:20:21.948 is a significant 6 minute improvement over its predecessor thanks to some clever routing choices for better EXP management. Xujhan continues to show his passion for this series, and I am here for it!
- [7306] DOS Aro "100%" by Noxxa in 19:45.038 is a solid completionist run of this old DOS platformer I had not heard of before. While the camera work makes the game a bit hard to watch, Noxxa's diligent work in finding every possible tech to speed it up is nothing short of admirable.
- [7311] PSX XI [sÃĄi] Jumbo "1 player, Puzzle" by Quartz06 in 14:43.846 is another amazing debut movie, this time by Quartz06, who optimizes this unique puzzle game in satisfying fashion. Thanks for submitting to the site and congrats on your first publication!
- [7322] GC Resident Evil 4 "glitchfest, newgame+" by IgorOliveira66X in 4:26:18.633 is your glittchfest of the month courtesy of the glitchfest master himself, IgorOliveira66X. From weird animations to out of bounds shenanigans, this movie has it all!
- Are you up for some 2 player action? Look no further than [7324] Arcade Joe & Mac Returns "2 players" by Pepper-Color in 14:27.655, where Pepper-Color delivers a really entertaining beating of this Arcade classic with efficient movement and some fun strategies that make a mockery of the game's hardest difficulty.
- [7326] SMS ALF by TascoDLX in 04:45.684 is something else! A breezy and glitchy run of an infamous Master System... classic.TascoDLX shows us that there's more to ALF than meets the eye. With the readdition of Lucky the cat, a reroute of Alf's many deaths, and a bit of RNG manipulation, [7326] SMS ALF by TascoDLX in 04:45.684 demonstrates that bad games can have interesting TASes and improvement histories.
- [7329] Amiga Fiendish Freddy's Big Top o' Fun by alexheights1 in 19:13.336 is a rather technical movei with more than meets the eye, as alexheights1 takes some very delbierate decisions to speed up the game, including losing on purpose in more than one ocassion, combined with some tight RNG manips to achieve the good ending as quickly as possible. Again, read the submission notes for a detailed explanation.
- [7333] GBC Doraemon Memories: Nobita no Omoide Daibouken by EvaTheWingdale in 10:43.870 is the grand return of EvaTheWingdale, both to TASVideos and to the world of Doraemon TASing. This platformer lets the author get away with some creative strats and some fun along the way as well.
- [7334] Flash ELEMENTS by Rxser in 04:41.821 is a latest in the long tradition of escape room Flash TASes delivered by authors like Rxser, who has made his mark in this specific niche with polished movies such as this one. It was a delight to watch and judge for sure.
- [7338] GBC Rayman 2 by SuperSqank in 18:09.670 is a massive 7 and a half minute improvement over the previous publication, thanks to some new major skips brought to us by SuperSqank. As usual, the author notes are your friend to make sense of the routing and tech.
- [7342] Genesis Misplaced by Cephla & Alyosha in 09:21.106 is nothing short of beautiful. The movie itself is quite clever, making great usage of every mechanic in fun and inventive ways that scratch my itch as a puzzle game afficionado. Thanks to Cephla and Alyosha for their work on this one, I enjoyed it a lot.
- [7351] NES Proximity Shift by Induviel in 00:43.528 is a breezy movie where Induviel seamlessly beats this neat homebrew game. Not much to say, go watch it for yourself!
- Fighting game fans know what to expect from KusogeMan at this point, so you know [7352] Genesis Fatal Fury by KusogeMan in 07:15.043 will be good. Enjoy as Andy Bogard elbows his way thru each battle with reckless abandon, catches every possible anti air and perfects Geese Howard for revenge.

We've recently become aware of a website (toolassisted.run), heavily developed using GenAI, that has been mass-copying TAS content from TASVideos with dubious consent from authors. While it claims to require consent before importing any TASes, in practice it only requires the consent of a single co-author. Once a single author consents, the TAS movie, submission notes (minus the judge's comments), and related metadata are copied onto the site. Whether you create an account or not, this site also automatically creates profile-like pages for all co-authors of imported TASes.
While our content is hosted under the CC-BY 2.0 license, which legally permits reuse with proper credit, doing so in this manner at such a large scale without full consent, is unethical.
We want to make it clear that we are not, in any way, associated with that site and do not condone its actions.
If you choose to use that site, be wary of what private or sensitive information you share there (e.g. passwords, personal details, etc). There is no privacy policy and we have serious concerns towards the safety of anyone using that site.
Additionally, the site has been attempting to use our wiki pages in order to authenticate a person's identity. Since we are not associated with that site, we strongly discourage using TASVideos for this purpose. However, we will not ban users who choose to do this on their own homepages.
Ludicrous-speed bouncing around. Completed without collecting any emeralds, with both Sonic and Tails controlled by the player.
This run takes everything you know about Sonic 3 & Knuckles and turns it upside-down. It extensively uses the "scroll objects offscreen to pass through them" trick to zip and warp to places that shouldn't be reached, break bosses, and effectively skip entire stages.
This latest effort by Aglar and marzojr represents the first published improvement of this run in over four years, and the first time since this run, over seven years ago, that the authors replayed the entire game instead of replaying only select levels and then splicing input from the previous movie. Every single level is faster, and there are some surprising new glitches in several stages. For more details, see the run's comments.
And also we have runs with Amy, Knuckles, Tails, Knuckles ring attack, Sonic 100%, Knuckles 100%, Competition mode and Sonic and Tails on NewGame+.
The downloadable encodes in the second set use a camhack, which attempts to always keep Sonic onscreen and puts HD sprites on top of the background to make the TAS look even better.
