This is a payment setting in which you pay for your advertising costs before your ads run. Then, as your ads run, your costs are deducted from the payment you've made.
- We can notify you by email when your account balance starts to get low or exhausted, but you can add funds at any time.
- The payment methods you can use to make a prepayment will depend on your currency and the location of your business address. Learn more About payment methods for Google Ads.
- Processing Time for Prepayments: Please be aware that prepayments, especially bank transfers, can take time to process. Typically, it may take 24-48 hours, or up to 2-5 business days, for the payment to reflect in your Google Ads account. For faster processing, ensure any required reference numbers are entered correctly.
- If you'd rather be charged automatically after your ads run, you can use the postpay payments setting.
You may be able to switch the payment setting for your account between postpay and prepay, and vice versa, in your accountâs Billing Settings. Note that there is a limit on how many times you can switch payment settings in your account.
The option to switch from postpay to prepay is possible only in countries where the prepay option is available (refer the list below). If you are currently on prepay and this option is no longer available in your country, you can only switch to postpay and you won't be able to switch back to prepay.
To change your payment setting:
- Go to Settings under the Billing menu.
- Open the âHow you payâ section, then select Alternative payment options to view other options available to you.
- If the option is available, select Switch to postpay or Switch to prepay and follow the steps in the pop-up window to confirm the change.
- Note: This feature might not be available in all Google Ads accounts.
To check the user access level:
- Go to Settings under the Billing menu
.
- Open the Payments users section, then select the name to view access level of the user.
Confirm country availability for prepay
Some countries and territories don't support prepay for new accounts or for switching from postpay. If youâre in one of these areas, you won't be able to select the prepay option when creating your account, and if your account is already on postpay, you cannot switch it to prepay.
In this case, Postpay Payments (or monthly invoicing if you are eligible) are the only supported payment settings for your region.Countries and territories where prepay isn't available
