Ignore the reviews of people who can't adapt their playstyle, this DLC is genuinely great. The early imbalances and missing features have all been fixed up.

Go and read the review by enfo for this DLC. They've perfectly summed up how it changes the game, and why it's so good. Five stars.

Honestly it's great. More of the Oxygen Not Included things you love, with a bigger emphasis on exploration. If you enjoy the base game, this is the obvious choice of DLC.

Do you like stacking things, sorting things, and lining things up correctly? Have you shown this behaviour from a young age? You probably also have autism will enjoy this game!

It's good. A little opaque sometimes, but very pretty, and some solid design choices.

I'm now about 67 hours into Heart of the Machine, I'm *still* unlocking new mechanics, and I can say this may be one of the best games I have ever played.

It is a slow burn, and it does branching storylines very well. The writing is good; it's *especially* good with "show, don't tell" with some fairly major plot points, which I can't tell you without spoilers.

There's a lot of achievements for that I would have thought to be silly, but by the time you reach them *they make sense*. It's kinda like being inside a Charlie Stross or Greg Egan novel.

Yes, some of the prose needs an edit, and the game needs polish and QoL here and there, but the developer has been extremely responsive in the forums, and updates have been coming out every few days.

I think at this point Heart of the Machine would be my vote for Game of the Year.

I would strongly recommend you avoid spoilers.

Fifteen years later and the game is still great, with a healthy modding community. There's a reason this game gets overwhelmingly positive reviews.

Just be aware that there's a learning curve, and you'll want to actually *read* the manual to pick up some of the finer points.

Also consider grabbing yourself the Warband Script Enhancer 2 ("WSE2"). Even when used without mods it greatly increases the stability of the game, fixes bugs, and improves the graphics.

Well dang... It's not just a chip fabricator game, but it's a really good, well made chip fabricator game. You have two MOSFETs, and get to make all the gates and logic units based upon those. It has blueprinting, a neat chip editor, scoreboards, a basic plot, and it runs fine on my Ryzen integrated graphics.

Documentation feels a bit light in parts. For example, I've unlocked probes but haven't yet been given any info on how to use them, so that's very much been trial-and-error. However there are regular updates and a responsive developer, so I'm sure the UX will improve even more over time. It also runs just fine under Proton.

This will either be *very much* your thing, or not at all your thing. Play the demo and you will definitely know for sure.

The game takes a little while to really start rolling, but it's good when it does. Developers are responsive and updates come out regularly. I'm having fun!

It's actually pretty great. The atmosphere, the music, the plot thus far. Yes, it's a hard game. It's meant to be. Difficulty settings have been added a while ago, but I found the default difficulty to be spot on for tension.
