Silver ore and stone exploded up like a geyser near my mining
Hello,

I had an experience in my last playthrough where I was mining silver, I was at about 18/30 in my stack of silver ore when this happened--

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3827995953

I also had to dig around a bit and somewhat deep to find the vein, and all was fine when I first started mining the silver vein, but then after maybe 15 or 20 swings or so on the vein, a bunch of silver ore and stone exploded out of the nearby untouched terrain, like it noclipped upwards out of the untouched snow nearby, and made a giant pile of both the silver ore and stone

Right before I saw this bug occur where the silver ore and stone shot up very quickly, I saw damage indicators of '500' all over the place, that somehow was being applied, to a spot that I wasn't even touching when mining. I play singleplayer. There is no way I could do that kind of pickaxe damage in an Area of Effect. I missed the timing on taking a screenshot of that, but the screenshot above, is what it looked like right after the bug occurred. The big pile formed right where the 'geyser' of silver ore/stone was. The hole in the picture, is what I dug out, at a normal pace, but when all those '500''s started appearing on screen, is when the 'geyser' burst and noclipped stone and silver ore pieces.

I still had my wishbone equipped. I am thinking that I hit carry weight limit of silver ore, and then somehow this bug occurred? I don't understand how it could have occurred

Unless there's something going on with the silver veins themselves if located in specific spots? I will likely go back and explore more of what happened, I wonder if there's some kind of ice cave right next to this and hitting the silver ore caused it to move slightly and then the ice cave did damage to it? I really don't know, but seeing multiple 500's on my screen, possibly 5-8 of them, to the left of me where I was mining, doesn't make sense. There wasn't even a stone golem there.

It occurred at the same time as when I swung my pickaxe, like somehow I was dealing 1000's of damage per swing in AoE where I wasn't swinging, almost like maybe there is a structure right below?

Or if the silver vein was connected to one that was further away from me, like in my screenshot, something in the environment interacted with my focused pickaxe damage on the part of the vein I could see, and if the silver vein jiggles even slightly when hit (I don't know), something, like the world itself, did a damage cap of 500 per 2x2 tile?

My character has almost level 70 pickaxe, but my iron pickaxe does not do 3000+ dmg AoE in one hit. Not much AoE unless I hit a very specific part of a vein or large rock, but it's much much less, like maybe 10? Probably not even that much. Also if my pickaxe actually did that somehow for a brief moment, I would expect to have made the hole I dug in one swing, which it wasn't. Idk, I feel like the vein I hit, somehow connects to a vein directly underneath where the pile is (the vein I hit is where the hole is), and that something interacted with something else to give what looks like max damage indicators per area.

It was like if someone swung stagbreaker, and '500' appearing everywhere a number popped up. that was right before.

Sorry I don't have more information on it. If needed I can also provide the seed and then I think I can get coordinates from just regular commands, right?

pretty sure if you undermine certain types of rock maybe silver, it all collapses and destroys itself, it doesn't work with all I know that much, but if there's nothing left touching the ground I've seen it all explode(I don't know if that applies or you think that might apply)

but can't say i've seen it shoot straight up and don't remember seeing the damage indicators im sure other people will have some more info
Shush, don't tell the devs!

Yes, you can get it to do this on purpose if only a tiny tip of the silver vein is exposed and you mine it. I've done it a lot. :pickax:

I assume those two piles were the other two edges of the Y vein.

Haha, I did appreciate how easy it was to go back and pick up the silver that appeared for me, lol

Still, very jarring experience and I was confused and had no idea what was happening

This can be low on their priority list for now, I need to mine a lot more silver xD

Considering that this has been known about since... oh... forever, now? (at the very least, since 2021), I'm pretty sure it's safe. :steammocking:
