Universe Sandbox

Universe Sandbox

Dear Developers
I just want to say I love this game but here are a few ideas to add

1. Warp time so instead of having to wait a long time to get to the year you want even worse on big systems so instead "set time" and it changes time to it

2. Realistic mode after a set time stars go supernova this could be turned on and off

3. turn habitable makes almost any planet be able to have life but can not be stars
Thanks for the correction Chickadee

4. speed of light or faster objects should do a large amount of damage as shooting a small item does no damage at 1x the speed of light

5. a option to make a star never become a black hole so doing large star crashes will not become a blackhole

6. better crashes after a crash make a ort cloud and do not make it instantly die.

Thanks for reading!

I'm glad that you're enjoying Universe Sandbox! Thank you for the suggestions.

1. We do include and "Advance Time" option in the Time panel that will run the simulation as fast as possible to the chosen date/amount of time passed. This is still subject to our settings about how fast we can still run the simulation and still have it be accurate. You can learn more about that in our in-game guide under
Home > Guides > Tutorials > Advanced Simulation Speed Controls

2. We have been doing some research and testing on adding stellar evolution to Universe Sandbox recently that would include large stars eventually dying in a supernova. We don't have an exact timeline for this though.

3. We are working on making it easier to make a planet habitable and are planning to include some options similar to this in our life simulation update.

4. We are constantly working on improving our collision simulation. Lightspeed collisions are always a little tricky since we don't really have any examples of what these would look like in real life. Right now, they're simulated based on the transfer of kinetic energy, the same as every other collision. The amount of energy transferred is based on both the mass and speed of the object, so the smaller an object is, the less energy will be involved in the collision. You can learn more about this in our guide under
Home > Guides > Science > Collisions: Energy, Mass, and Speed

5. Thanks for the suggestion. Black holes are created whenever the total mass of colliding stars is greater than 20 solar masses or so when they explode in a supernova. You can turn off supernova for a simulation under
Sim > Fragment Creation > Enable Supernovae

Though this may result in somewhat unrealistic mass conservation issues.

6. Add dust clouds will continue cooling off and expanding in Universe Sandbox right now. Eventually, if they get large and cool enough, they might get removed from the simulation to preserve performance.

We are looking into some ways where we could improve our gas cloud collisions and simulation, but we're still in the early stages of that right now.
tiny correction for number 3.

Gas Giants Actually have the Ability To sustain Aerial life, life that Flies in the gases, its just really hard for a gas giant to get this correct temperature and atmospheric composition.
As for lightspeed collisions, go to Sim -> Relativistic Collision Energy and turn it on. It'll make them be realistically strong. Though collisions above or very near lightspeed still don't map properly but this makes sense as objects with mass can't go above c irl

Thanks for Responding what i was trying to say " better crashes after a crash make a ort cloud" is a Ort cloud and small rocks that orbit the planet instead of all of them getting sent to deep space

Also I think that you are one of the best developers who responds to almost all the discussions and I think you should never quit don't listen to the haters this game has given me so much joy

Another Another Correction: have, The universe is unimaginably massive there is nearly a 0% chance of NOT finding another planet with life, even aerial life.

idk if im just typing random words.

well, the size of the universe is mostly irrelevent becuase there is no physical evidence that exotic forms of life are possible. speculating that it could exist based on current theorum is known as hypothesis

edit: side-tangent, the probability that we are the first occurence of life in the universe is slim. this makes for one of those dumb/ funny paradoxes where there is in fact no such first emergence of life, because it just makes no logical sense for there to be a first.

in other words: you can't prove that we are alone because you can't prove we are not alone. i wager that's a more accurate way of describing the fermi paradox than you get conventionally, but this might be another thing. im not a philosopher after all
