Perninae је потпородица птица грабљивица Accipitridae из породице која обухвата бројне врсте средње величине са широким крилима. То су птице топлијих клима, иако врсте из рода Pernis осичар (Pernis apivorus) и ћубасти осичар (Pernis ptilorhynchus) имају шири ареал.

Неколико врста у овој групи једе углавном инсекте, а осичари су специјализовани за храњење ларвама оса. Гмизавце такође лови неколико птица у овој групи.

Неколико ауторитета сматра да су лешинари породице Gypaetinae унутар породице Perninae или чак синоним за њу.[1][2]

Таксономија

Потпородицу Perninae формално је описао енглески зоолог Едвард Блајт 1851. године у Conspectus of the ornithology of India, Burma, and the Malayan Peninsular, inclusive of Sindl, Asam, Ceylon, and the Nicobar Islands.[3]

Perninae води порекло од старогрчке речи περνις pernis, што је назив за врсту птице грабљивице коју су помињали антички аутори попут Аристотела.[4]
