This Hypothesis is part of key result DE2.5 of the Wikimedia Foundation's annual plan: "Abstract Wikipedia Experience: By the end of Q3, enable editors without in-depth Wikifunctions knowledge to create and improve Abstract articles, and know what to do when the content they want cannot yet be expressed.":
If we iteratively implement and evaluate the recommended article-editing direction from the Q1 design exploration, starting with focused improvements, then we can progressively make meaningful editing and article creation accessible to a broader, less technical contributor base.
Work this quarter (October–December 2026)
Ships:
- T441402 Add content dialog: one place for a blank fragment, the functions the community suggests, and function search
- T441401 When a function search finds nothing, offer to request or create the function on Wikifunctions (only on Abstract Wikipedia)
Spike, nothing ships:
- T441809 Similar-article suggestions, starting with quality articles that the community picks by hand: make the main decisions and write the spec
Also:
- T441407 Ad hoc work after the integration in Igbo and Dagbani Wikipedia
- T441405 Evaluate the editing improvements with contributors (to be confirmed)
- T441406 Try a fragment's function call on Wikifunctions (lowest priority, only if there is time)
