    Musique, ma patrie !

①hello ladies and gentlemen. I recently came across a really nice video of origami, a life-sized origami violin.〔I recently came across〜:「最近〜に出会った」〕〔a really nice video of〜:前置詞 of による内容説明〕 〔a life-sized + 名詞「実物大の〜」(複合形容詞)〕②take a look now I think this is actually a viola. and in order for that to be of any use we need some music written in alto clef 〔命令文:take a look〕〔I think (that)〜:that省略 〕〔in order for A to〜「Aが〜するために」〕 〔we need + 名詞(過去分詞句):music written in alto clef(後置修飾)〕③so let's make some Folding I shall now play for you a musical composition of mine to which I also gave the title origami. 〔so let’s + 動詞:提案〕〔I shall now + 動詞:やや形式的な未来〕〔a composition of mine:所有の強調表現〕〔to which I also gave〜:前置詞+関係代名詞(フォーマル)=which ... to〕④it is a set of theme and variations where each variation should really be called a Bagatelle. these bagatelles are variations of each other in the sense that they share the exact same notes.〔• it is a set of〜:定義 〕〔theme and variations:並列名詞 〕〔where(関係副詞):状況説明 〕〔should be called〜:受動+助動詞(適切性) 〕〔in the sense that〜「〜という意味で」 〕〔share + 名詞「〜を共有する」〕 ⑤you see, the point is that in origami, the essential part of the composition is in making the base. once one has a base one can apply a series of simple folds, of simple concepts, to get the representation of any number of very varied figures.〔the point is that〜:主張提示〕〔is in + 動名詞「〜にある」〕 〔once + 主語 + 動詞「ひとたび〜すれば」〕〔one can + 動詞:一般論〕〔a series of + 複数名詞「一連の〜」〕 〔to get〜:目的〕〔any number of + 複数名詞「いくらでも多くの」〕 ⑥and so it is in my composition. the base is the series of notes which remains constant. we have six variations – six figures – which have exactly the same notes in exactly the same order, but which are folded differently.〔and so it is〜「そして同様に〜である」〕〔which(関係代名詞):notes を説明〕〔remains(現在形):一般的事実〕〔we have〜:提示〕〔ダッシュ(–):同格説明〔which have〜(関係代名詞):variations / figures を説明〕〔but which〜:対比(同じ構造の反復)〕
