Musique, ma patrie ! #69では、シャルル＝ヴァランタン・アルカン《イソップの饗宴》（＊１）が紹介される。キット・アームストロングは、この作品を「奇妙さの祝祭」と述べる。想像する限り“最も魅力的でない音楽”が含まれており「魅力が少ない」のではなく「魅力的でないことが最大化されている」という。この作品は変奏曲形式を取り、異様な要素の並置がさらなる奇妙さの連鎖を生み出す構造を持つ。その発想は一種のシュールレアリズムにも例えられ「いかに意味をなさないかという観点において、最も筋の通ったものは何か」を問い続ける思考によるものという。主題もその原理に従い、可能な限り「音楽的でない」形で演奏される。ここでの音楽は、美や快の追求ではなく、意味や秩序の解体を駆動力とする、実験的領域として提示されている。
