One Month Apart, Yet It Didn't Feel Like a ReunionーJune 12(Friday) 2026, R8

My husband arrived in Matsuyama last night.

The last time we saw each other was from April 30 to May 6, when he helped me move here, so it had been about a month since we were together in person.

This time, he was returning from work in Tokyo. One reason he decided to come was that he had wanted to experience flying from Haneda Airport to Matsuyama Airport. Since he was able to take a few days off, he thought it would be a good opportunity to visit Matsuyama and see how I have been settling into my new life.

Even so, it did not feel like a reunion after a month apart.

We exchange messages on LINE every day, and he also reads the notes I write online. Because of that, he already knew a great deal about my daily life, what I have been doing, and what I have been thinking about. I also keep up with his life through our conversations.

It made me realize how different things are today. Even when living apart, modern technology allows us to stay connected in ways that were not possible in the past.

After arriving last night, he hurried to the large public bath in the facility before it closed at 9:00 p.m. Since I have temporarily stopped using the late-night electricity plan, there is currently no hot water available in my room, so using the facility bath was important. Afterward, he had a simple late dinner of somen noodles and fish sausage before putting on his CPAP device and going to bed.

This morning, we planned to attend the radio exercise session together.

When we first came to Matsuyama at the end of April, my husband was the one who went to the morning radio exercises while I stayed in bed. Back in Shizuoka, I often slept until the time the morning TV drama started.

Still, I thought joining the exercises might help me establish a new daily rhythm here. I started attending, even if I was sometimes late.

After my husband returned home, I kept going.

Now I have not missed a single day.

What started as something my husband introduced me to has become an important part of my own routine.

It has only been a little over a month since I moved to Matsuyama, but I can already feel that a new way of life is gradually taking shape.
