Looking at My Body Through Numbers ー 2026/6/9(Wednesday )R8
Today, during my trial visit to FITTA Matsuyama, I used an InBody body composition analyzer.
I had been measured before, but this was the first time I carefully compared the results with a previous measurement and really thought about what the numbers meant.
My weight had decreased slightly, and my muscle mass had also gone down a little.
When I thought about it, the reason was not surprising. This spring included my stay in New Zealand, preparations for moving, the move itself, and the start of a new life in Matsuyama. During that period, I was away from the gym and exercising much less than usual.
What surprised me was my leg strength.
For several years, I have relied on my electric three-wheeled bicycle for shopping, errands, and daily transportation. Perhaps because of that habit, my leg muscles were still evaluated quite highly.
On the other hand, my arms remain thin, and the balance between my upper and lower body is not ideal. It was something I had sensed before, but seeing it reflected in actual numbers made it easier to understand.
My basal metabolic rate had decreased only slightly, and my weight is still better than it was during the period when I was struggling the most last year.
Because I live with osteoporosis, I want to avoid losing weight and continue maintaining the strength in my legs. At the same time, I would like to pay a little more attention to strengthening my arms and core muscles.
More valuable than the numbers themselves was the opportunity to understand my current condition.
“This is what my body looks like right now.”
That realization was the most meaningful result of today’s measurement.
As I continue building my new life in Matsuyama, I feel that I have gained another useful piece of information to help guide my health and activity choices.
